They seem to have stopped posting here, but really enjoyed going to see @operanorth.co.uk Rigoletto last night @ Grand Theatre Leeds. Fantastic singers, great staging, loved the whole thing, sat near the orchestra so watched them too. I am a complete opera novice but planning to go more often!

Put more clearly - an arrogant incompetent old man picked an arrogant incompetent woman for her looks and her extremist views and she proved utterly incapable of delivering. That's how the US is being run right now. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

For some inexplicable reason this report by the BBC’s Danny Halpin, about imposition of car parking charges, a subject usually closed to the rabid gammon heart, fails to mention that the (Wakefield) council is run by Reform! Nice one Danny - keep up the good fight! www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

In other words, a 10 percent contraction in one of Britain’s most successful exports. If it were steel or fish or other infinitely less profitable sectors, people would be having a meltdown.

Exactly what “standards” are those, Robert? You collude with pornographers over property deals. You take dodgy donations. You whore for racists and christofascists for personal gain. You betray your political allies, friends and your country to sniff at power. You have no standards. You’re poison.

These people will eat plants or animals without thinking about those being alive. But when it comes to a mathematical formula calculated using molten sand melted into useful silicon charged with electric micro shocks generated by burning dead trees from millions of years ago. Then there’s concern?

The “accidentally” bit feels suspicious. One, sure, but ten? Strong “nice green bottles you got there, be a shame if something were to happen to them” vibes
It was never clear to me as a kid how ten green bottles could hang on a wall, - whether there was some kind of hook or loop system going on etc - but now I’m wondering whether “hanging” means, you know, like, hanging out, although I’m not sure that sense of the word existed in Olden Days (morning)

Once again, speaking as a professional archaeologist: "English" is not an ethnicity in any meaningful sense. You only have to go back about 1,000 years before everyone in Europe has the same group of common genealogical ancestors. Humans have lived on the British Isles for almost a million years.
The British right has now descended to the point where 'the England team are not English' is becoming the consensus position
