In the last few weeks i've been bombarded with emails from people who have minor tech support problems. ChatGPT is telling them to email me, writing their emails, and compiling "evidence packets" after convincing them they have stumbled on a major story: www.404media.co/chatgpt-keep...

Everyone thought Lula was cooked, hopeless. Then he bought a phone and started posting and now he's gonna get a 4th term. The lesson is to never stop posting.

MYTH: Every mixup is a 50/50 FACT: All is written. You were never meant to block that low. The very concept of a mixup is the post-hoc invention of a mind in hitstun. The trajectory of particles cannot be changed

white morpheus, the man with six fingers, ordinarily lives in seclusion due to his fear of a revenge-speaking spaniard. however he is VERY excited to be on epic games's ai-themed game jam team

I had to go on Twitter to confirm this was real because Ship Awesome Games In A Weekend having a hand with six fingers was so on the nose I was about to pass out

This shit just writes itself at this point. Just the name "Epic AI MegaJam" is a joke that best describes what is going on with these companies.

i guess i havent looked at it in a while but back in the day SA was considerably more moderated than any social media site ever has been or will be

on this point in particular: egs sales are so bad it's common for devs to share and compare out of disbelief, and often what you find is quite popular games are selling only in the double or triple digits of copies last i checked, my game had sold (drum roll please) five

i dont think this is a bad thing to be clear. frustrating the urge to pin a problem on a single person is good. its the same reason we all try to do blameless post-mortems

ideally we would all actually look at and evaluate the code to understand what it does and what the consequences might be but most software dev orgs right now are struggling to maintain a codebase that even one person understands, let alone several people

if the service goes down because of code only one guy looked at its obviously that guys fault. but if the service goes down because of code everyone signed off on, then well nobody could have seen it coming and we all just agree to do better next time

Why do we keep on doing this? Praising a 'small core team' for a game with 1100+ people in the credits is incredibly misleading. This PR narrative hurts, hides the massive shadow workforce of outsourced developers and testers, and sets impossible standards for actual indie teams.

GamesIndustry.biz@gibiz.bsky.social

Star Wars: Galactic Racer was made by a core team of 75 people. "What we wanted to do was keep that core small, smaller than perhaps you might have done in the past, and scale capacity and capability with what we call distributed development." https://bit.ly/4hT02qg

there's a lot of questionably sourced, very prejudiced ways people try to describe how the Mainland Chinese are culturally different from, or dare I say behind, the rest of the world but we finally have reliable, trustworthy data on one big L they absolutely need to own atelier.games/karia/uk/top...
