Ticket SNAFU at St Pancras station. Machine hadn’t printed out my return ticket; email confirmation of said purchase wouldn’t get me through the gate. Had to run with heavy bags to the ticket office. No use: had to pay £96 for a new ticket. Ran back with heavy bags. Train in question was a whole…

You pay fuel duty, why don’t billionaires? Last week I took over a petrol station in Essex to give regular people the chance to pay tax like a billionaire. At Jetrol, if you have wings on your car, your fuel is duty free. Fill up and sign the petition at jetrol.vip

Fully electric aviation has some major challenges (mostly: batteries are heavy and don't get lighter as they get used up) but I love the idea of decreasing aircraft emissions through a hybrid approach, perhaps as a step toward new, clever solutions for fully electric air transport in the future.

Ada Palmer@adapalmer.bsky.social

The world’s largest battery-electric aircraft flew for the first time on the 12th of August, a 27-minute test flight over upstate New York that cost about five dollars in electricity. Heart Aerospace’s 30-seat prototype is a big step toward a commercial version. buff.ly/i3f0PhR #ShareGoodNewsToo

Need temporary power for an event? Chances are you’d currently hire a diesel generator, which is delivered by truck. But if that truck were electric, couldn’t it supply the power itself? A Dutch company has developed a 1 MWh / 200 kW truck that can power events power-truck.nl/blog/powertr...

Britain is getting 29 new battery-electric trains. Built in Derby. And these aren’t little branch-line trains. The new TransPennine Express will be 121 metres long, carry around 300 passengers and travel at up to 110mph. Photo credit: Alstom Newt.

The balaclava blackshirted thugs are a result of a decade of politicians, tabloids and the broadcast media telling racists they have "legitimate concerns." The normalisation of actual fascism rhetoric and action has led to this and is a far greater "legitimate concern" than any migrant on a boat.

Out with the old, in with the new. MX-30 has a few but notable shortcomings. Served me well for 3 yrs & has a new home in Dublin. Absolutely mad that a country that has basically limitless PV potential, and lots of houses with parking (I think?) hasn't been an absolute slam dunk for EVs. But, does go to show, throw in the subsidies for PV and especially massive home battery systems, and EVs naturally follow.

It looks like EV sales in Australia have hit the exponential growth postage now. With EV outselling petrol and diesel cars for the month of August. 27089 EVs sold 25824 Petrol cars 23608 diesel cars. Means EV sales were 24.9% of the market! Quite the fad I must say!

Now, Carney has set a punitive unit cap at <0.5% of Canadian car buyers eligible to purchase affordable Chinese EV, with Canadian EV sales down -40~50% in 2025, it's clear the goal is to keep Canadian EV adoption retarded at the behest of GM/Ford lobbying *as they continue to disinvest in Canada*. 🧵
