Our statement on the UK gov't's demand that all content on all devices sold or used in the UK be scanned, on the presumption of nudity, using a dystopian combination of age verification & content scanning. This proposal will not safeguard children. It endangers us all. signal.org/blog/pdfs/20...

I’m not sure why we still have a monarch. It seems like a medieval anachronism to me; a demonstration of inherited status and the the pinnacle of an entrenched aristocracy. And I’m really not sure why our monarch has gone to the US to stand next to another man with too much power, land and money.

With all that’s going on in the world right now, I feel it’s really important to draw a distinction between ‘religion’ and ‘faith’. I’m not religious, but I have a humanist worldview which prioritises rational thought, empathy and kindness. I know many people of faith who hold similar values. 1/5

This week, Brexit finally killed our family business. We cleared out our warehouse, handed back the keys, paid the final bills and said goodbye to our last employee. What was once a thriving firm died a slow, sad death, all thanks to Farage, Johnson and the gullible idiots they conned. 1/18

Starmer announces that the UK is pursuing closer EU relations: “Brexit did deep damage to our economy. And the opportunities to strengthen our security and cut the cost of living are simply too big to ignore. We want to be more ambitious. Closer economic cooperation. Closer security cooperation.”

I have deleted my original debunk of this story as it appears it is actually an amalgamation of 2 stories... (Don't let anyone tell you I'm not prepared to be corrected!!) So let's look at them individually: We'll start with the photo... So what's going on? 🧵1/12

We’ve launched a brand new animation explaining what #secularism is and why it matters in an increasingly diverse society. Our short film, What is secularism?, is now available to watch on the @humanismedu.bsky.social website. 🧵 understandinghumanism.org.uk/secularism/

Did you see this headline? Did you feel the requisite anger and rage at asylum seekers that The Sun was asking of you? Did you maybe blame Starmer because.... um... it was probably his fault🤷‍♀️ Would you like to know the reality behind the headline? Course you would!😜 Let's take a look 🧵 1/25

Every session – whether in the Lords or Commons – starts with prayers. Peers and MPs reserve a seat with a 'prayer card'. Those who are seated are more likely to have speaking privileges. This gives unfair advantage to parliamentarians who pray. That's wrong. humanists.uk/action/parli...

humanists.ukSign our petition: Replace parliamentary prayers with inclusive time for reflectionWe're calling on the procedure committees of both Houses of Parliament to review the outdated and discriminatory 'prayers' system which the puts the views of non-religious people at a disadvantage.

Great news. MPs should also pay attention to our campaigns: ● Remove the 26 bishops Religious office should not grant automatic voting rights in a parliamentary democracy. ● Scrap parliamentary prayers Attending prayers should not to provide speaking advantages🧵 observer.co.uk/news/politic...

I’m just going to say as someone who lived in London for eleven years and is currently seriously considering going back precisely because of the far right theocratic fascism of Trump, that he’s talking out of his fucking asshole.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump to the UN: "I have to say, I look at London where you have a terrible mayor -- terrible terrible mayor -- and it's been so changed, so changed. Now they want to go to Sharia Law ... both their immigration and their suicidal energy ideas will be the death of Western Europe."

The Right hacked our collective attention since 2015, this is a well-documented strategy, and we keep falling for it ever since. "Gay immigrants are stealing children and giving them autism". And that's the one thing everyone talks about for days. That's why you feel exhausted.
