There was a fucking hole in our planet’s *atmosphere*
Like a legit, no joke, “this will unravel our entire ecosystem” hole in the world, and then we fixed it by working together across national and political lines
As a species we decided, “we will survive”
Let’s do that some more
I'm making marmalade, from one of those tins of prepared oranges, and four lbs of sugar, and the whole kitchen is as sticky as a toddler's half-sucked toffee.
To put this in perspective chestnut trees used to be dominant species in the United States. Billions of trees were killed by fungal blight and now fully grown America chestnuts are functionally extinct. There is no getting them back. Ever. All for a data center.

Same here. A night for playful pretending. Even grown-ups (like me) wear costumes to answer the door.
If there's any sweets left, they are there for you.
[at a restaurant]
Me: Ah, yes. I’d like some Stilton on oatcake biscuits, with some fig jam on the side, and a nice glass of Port.
Them: Ma’am, this is a McDonald’s.
Me: Oh, silly me! Yes, go ahead and super size it.
One of the unacknowledged advantages of this awful era is that it's revealing for all to see the putrid connections between great wealth and great power.
The intentions of the oligarchs are fully exposed and more blatant than ever.
But remember: We outnumber the oligarchs.
The amount of Amazon workers relying on SNAP and Medicaid has nearly tripled since 2020 — while Amazon’s annual profits soared by over 550%.
It’s the same story everywhere: corporate profits are at record highs, while workers’ share of the economy is at a record low.
We must unrig the system.
I respect and admire the male sex; so this is the only piece of sexism I will ever express:
Do not lend your gardening tools to men. They will break them.
My veteran lopper was broken today by a strong man twisting it; and he nearly wrecked my pruning saw too.
You will never sell me a food by describing it as "fluffy".
I don't eat fluff.
I appreciate many things about food; but if quality, flavour and character are missing, fluffiness will not do the trick.

A dark blizzard of disinformation is warping the public’s perception of our great city.
But we know the truth: our homicide rate is lower than every major US city, neighbourhood crimes are down and we’ve been ranked #1 city in the world 11 years in a row.
My piece for The Times.
Socialism is what they called public power.
Socialism is what they called social security.
Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.
Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people.
—Harry Truman, 1952
FUN FACT
If we switched to all renewable energy, the number of ships crossing the ocean would fall almost in half, slashing global CO2 emissions. Because those ships are JUST carrying coal, oil and gas.
~ Bill McKibben
SUPPORT ALTERNATIVE ENERGY SOURCES!
They want to rape 35,000 acres of some of Ireland's richest remaining ecosystems, utterly *jam packed* with biodiversity, spawning grounds for fish, massive carbon stores, vital coastal storm protection.
The whole country must rise up against this criminal plan.

Remember, it's illegal to use your phone while driving. Instead, use the giant iPad
built into the car & flip through 50 settings to use the navigation or turn on
the AC.

Before I get up and make breakfast I check my phone for just a minute ,(Just for the important stuff, mind you) and then when I'm done I get up and make dinner.
