I recently took a neighbour's toddler to nursery by cargo bike ad a favour. They LOVED it. Apparently they now ask every morning if they can go in the bike instead of being driven. Life is just more fun by bike.

Perhaps the same could be done for antisocial drivers?

It’s not like I’m hugely precious about my bike’s paintwork, but this sort of sharp-edged bike stand annoys the hell out of me. One day I will start a consultancy that will charge companies £10,000 for an identical report that just says, “Don’t fuck around, use standard Sheffield stands.”

There's growing evidence of safety risks of bigger cars. Heavier with higher bonnets & worse vision, bigger SUVs are: ⚠️14% more likely to kill you than if you're hit by a smaller car ⚠️increasing to 77% for children ⚠️and 200% more likely to kill a kid under 9 #VisionZeroLDN

The Government should drastically cut tax on alcohol in pubs and restaurants and pay for it by hiking taxes on alcohol for off sales. Social drinking is more of a social good than private drinking.

About 5 streets away from my house the postman waved me down as I was cycling past to give me my post. 1. He's great 2. This makes me feel like I live in a real community 3. This would never have happened if I was in a car

🧵 MPs are learning how it feels to be a Gorton & Denton resident today. To raise awareness of our recommendations for the Elections Bill we've sent a fake newspaper, The Misleading Times, packed full of dodgy bar charts and made up data to their desks in Westminster.

In 2024, more than 1,600 people died on UK roads. Yet a major new road safety strategy has passed largely unnoticed. This reflects media acceptance of road danger and a societal complacency—an “it won’t happen to me” mindset. Sadly, it can, and by then it is too late. How do we change this?

A section of cycle path on the Purple Pedalway had become badly overgrown. We asked Norfolk County Council to clear it but they only did half a job, so we spent two hours yesterday clearing back the vegetation properly. It was hard work but satisfying. We shouldn’t need to do this.

"Councillors estimate the cost of providing free car parks to be around £10 - £15 [per household per year]: equivalent to a ten per cent increase in council tax." - I find this story interesting mostly because it's rare that the true cost of free parking sees the light of day.

Ever wondered what it costs to provide free parking? Thetford Town Council have decided to keep all car parks at an increase of £10-15 per year for every council tax payer in the town. Details below www.edp24.co.uk/news/2558378...
