i don't mean this as a dunk, OP is obviously well aware of this, but imo: orgs will avoid covering it because major news organizations view honest coverage of sexual abuse - its absolute dirt-commonness - as disqualifying. if you cover the abuse of women & girls honestly you are a partisan.

Will anyone—anyone at all—ask Trump about the rape allegations published in an official report by the House Judiciary Democrats? Or will he continue to escape accountability for his violence?

Yes the Cenk Uygur ad is antisemitic, yes it is transphobic, but it’s the *interaction effect* between the antisemitism and the transphobia that causes it to give off so many Hitler particles

Dawg we are talking about 1966, no American white working man was suddenly getting left high and dry by deindustrialization or austerity or recession The only “radical shift in the material conditions” was “you have to let black people into your school/office/shop/apartment block now”

The only reason I can think of for this news not being absolutely everywhere is that large media orgs don’t want to be seen as putting their thumbs on the scales a week before election day. And that’s cowardly as shit.

It's well-documented that the president maintained a years-long friendship with the world's most notorious child sex trafficker. It might strike you as odd there aren't direct allegations of Trump engaging in child sex trafficking.. except there are. There are SO MANY. They just never get reported!

completely disgusting to use a slur and I also note that all the Dems who embrace transphobia are the ones who keep getting attacked with transphobia Those who shut the bigotry down like decent people don't get attacked because GOP know the attack doesn't work unless Dems cave to the bigotry first

We gotta rehearse calling out that "no federal funds for gender affirming care" is objectively a lie about what the policy does, to the point that we reflexively point it out every time we see it. It's "No GAC, even out of pocket, at any hospital that has even one medicaid patient or federal grant"

Turek's positions are not "less than perfect." They are a direct threat to the lives of my trans friends and family. He IS the danger we must fight.

Henry@cohomeaux.bsky.social

I'm just gonna chime in and say it's notable that his opponent is a rape apologist, and a pedophile supporter. Turek is trash, but certainly make clear that as we fight fascists, some choices may not be perfect. Turek is a piece of shit, ashley hinson is far worse. Scrub nation, then party. ✌🏼

my honest take on this is that if the senate majority depends on a segregationist then it's no majority at all, better he lose and the people's own house stands as the bulwark against fascism

escapedexplorer.bsky.social@escapedexplorer.bsky.social

On a good night (honestly probably the kind of good night you'd need to flip Iowa) we can reach a Senate majority without Iowa, so while obviously Senate control is important I think "overtly shifting the transphobic attack window into Even Worse Things" is an unforgivable campaign plank, fuck Turek

I think the Trump people have understandably come to the conclusion that this country hates women and misogyny is a cheat code for power. They may or may not be right. But I will grant that I see how they reached that conclusion from their personal experiences.

in a real sense his politics is *incredibly* idealistic it's just that instead of radical policy change he imagines a radical change in political dynamics where the Democratic party can enforce radical party discipline on the entire left

One particularly absurd notion here that has not gotten as much attention as the rest of this conversation is Yglesias' idea that all of society should be subordinated to the goal of appealing to the median voter.

Jake Grumbach@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social

A helpfully clear exchange here Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028." Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"

It would be bad enough if he was "only" arguing this with regard to actual politicians, but he has made it clear his strategic vision is to prevent anyone ever from saying or doing anything that could conceivably make it harder for Democrats to win in R+10 states

Matthew Yglesias continues to say that talking about ICE and excessive force in immigration enforcement helps Republicans. He is obviously wrong about this and refuses to acknowledge the data. Way past time for everyone to update their priors on this.
