I know I say this every time, but it's true. They try to make you believe they are inevitable, when in fact they are defeatable. They do this because once people believe they will always win, there's no point fighting back.

In England, no women aged 20 to 24 died of cervical cancer between 2020 and 2024, according to a study published in The Lancet. Researchers link it to the HPV vaccine.

Yes, Iceland are an independent sovereign state. Who also happen to be in the Single Market, the EEA and the Schengen zone, with freedom of movement for people, goods and services. But if the UK did that I'd be screaming about Brexit betrayal and being an EU puppet.

What Dolly taught us is that it is in fact possible to be wealthy beyond your wildest dreams of avarice but still be a fundamentally good person with a strong moral compass, and the only reason more rich people aren't like that is because they don't want to be.

Looks like yet another season in which Premier League matches are not being paused in the 79th minute for a respectful silence to commemorate the destruction of Pompeii in 79AD. I've given them the benefit of the doubt for a long time but at this stage it's starting to look downright callous.

Is “pragmatic” the new, “grown up” word? Andy, there’s nothing “pragmatic” about drilling for more oil & gas - to even consider it with the planet literally on fire is total madness. How many times must we say it will do nothing for energy bills or security? It would be an act of utter recklessness

As a neutral, all I want is a two and a half hour psychodrama, including at least one red card, two penalties, an atrocious VAR intervention and the reigniting of geopolitical tensions. I want this game to have its own Wikipedia page. I want scenes nobody wants to see. I want carnage.

“Reform has the most extreme policy on energy and climate the UK has seen since modern science on the subject began. The party opposes solar; it opposes wind; it opposes batteries… Once again: Reform is largely funded by fossil fuels” Private Eye on the anti-thought, pro-corruption threat of Reform

Is this .. optimism?

Across Gobi Desert, autonomous tracked robots are transporting & installing solar panels with minimal human intervention, doubling installation efficiency. The energy transition isn't just about building more solar. It's increasingly about automating the process of building the whole infrastructure.

Join Bumpy for his first dip of the day! Flanked by Keepers Festus and Jackson, our little hippo hurried out of his stable and made a beeline for his personal pool. He briefly considered a nap between Jackson's legs, thought the better of it, and dove right into the day, with a cute boop.

My heart truly goes out to every international football fan who is expecting to enjoy themselves by singing loudly in an American city center while holding an open container of beer.

Sky News projecting a national vote share for Reform of 27%, based on results so far. That’s four points down on what they achieved in local elections last year. Somewhat of a counter to the prevailing narrative. More evidence that Reform appears to have peaked.

In Havering, Reform won 71% of the seats on 36% vote share. In Ealing, Labour won 66% of the seats on 30% of votes. In Westminster, the Tories won 59% of the seats on 35% of the vote. In Sutton, 44% of the vote gave the Lib Dems 93% of the seats. Under FPTP, whoever wins, the voters lose.

There needs to be a drastic appraisal of the voting system. A party winning power with 75% opposed is not a recipe for a peaceful country.

Never met Tony Peters, don’t know who he is, but a million years ago on Facebook he posted this and I don’t think anyone’s ever put it better.
