President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva came from behind to win Brazil’s runoff election, halting a right-wing wave sweeping Latin America and defying predictions that the 80-year-old political veteran had finally reached the end of his extraordinary career. bloom.bg/4BsvV24 📷: Maira Erlich/Bloomberg

Literally where has she been these last couple years while Trump's goons have been in the streets? She wants to lead this country but can't even lead a rally.

BREAKING: Kamala Harris is laying the groundwork for a third presidential run, per WSJ

President Xi my country, Minnesota, yearns for freedom! For real tho, fuck these dirty fascists. You have wasted your only life on hate and lonliness

If people are already thinking this team reps Atlantic City, you've done bad branding. Also, stop trying to make Atlanta happen, it sucks

We’re so ATL 🫰 Today, the NWSL’s 17th club unveiled it’s name and crest: Atlanta City FC. Sound off for ATL, coming in 2028!

Your regular reminder that the bloated police budget takes money away from habitat restoration, tree planting, new park construction, stormwater mgmt, new bike lanes, transit, libraries, creation of a transformative green youth corps, schools, sidewalks, rental assistance, EDI and on and on forever

Amy Sundberg@amysundberg.bsky.social

CM Rinck starts her questions by remarking that the Mayor's proposed budget includes record spending for SPD. Which it does.

I have criticisms of Mayor Wilson and think we should abolish SPD. But this proposed budget is not a cop budget, if anything it fulfills our legal obligations per SPOG contract and stagnates funding. The City Council will be the ones to increase SPD funding

Such a massive win

Route 8 completed the race this year in just 4 minutes, 80% faster than last year (21 min). To put that into perspective, RapidRide J Line project is projected to reduce transit travel times by 30%. seattletransitblog.com/2026/09/09/r...

Good. This is normal. Stop clutching pearls over a fucking scooter

Hundreds of Lime riders are expected to pack downtown Seattle streets Saturday, following similar events this month in Minneapolis and Omaha. Most riders are having some good summertime fun, but there are safety concerns since many are young people, and most won’t be wearing helmets.

"'A bicycle?' Amos leaned on the breakfast bar. 'Sure. They don't need fuel, they don't get sick. Most of the repairs, you can handle on your own. You're looking for post-apocalyptic transportation, bikes are the way to go.'" -The Expanse, by S.A. Corey

I'm halfway through The Fountainhead as a challenge to my worldview. But yeah, Ayn Rand is psychotic and her worldview is uninspiring. These "heroes" are sociopaths

From the very beginning, she’s been part of the Minnesota Aurora family! Now, she’s taking the next step. 🇷🇸✨ Congratulations on signing your first professional contract in Serbia! We couldn’t be prouder. Go make your mark! 🌟

The BRT network in the Twin Cities is one of the better systems I've ridden. Metro Transit punches far above it's weight

Your local park is lacking tree coverage and your home's road is potholed because SPD takes everything and gives nothing in return.

I can't stress enough what a crisis this is. Trump's own intelligence agencies concluded that Iran attacked Minnesota's critical infrastructure and Trump is saying that it's Minnesota's own fault and denying it was Iran. The federal government won't defend blue states in a literal war.

nytimes.comU.S. Sees Iran as Likely Behind Cyberattack on Minnesota Water Systems (Gift Article)Investigators cautioned that the assessment was preliminary. There were no indications that any water supply had been rendered unsafe to drink.

The political double standard from U.S. media that Mayor Wilson can delay a press conference and face a week+ of severe backlash questioning her competency while Trump actively blames a U.S. state for civic infrastructure cyberattacks and it’ll be old news in 8 hours… it’ll make your head spin.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Q: Can you rule out that Iran is behind the water attacks? TRUMP: I don't think so. I think that Minnesota is behind it. You know who is behind it? Minnesota. Because they're grossly incompetent. I don't think there was an Iranian cyberattack. I think Minnesota ought to get its act together.

Huge news coming from Seattle. Environmental laws have been weaponized against the environment for too long

The Urbanist@theurbanist.org

A 5-4 Seattle City Council vote yesterday means city-level appeals that have delayed significant citywide zoning changes in the past will be extinguished. Conventional appeal options to Superior Court or the state growth hearings board will remain. Story: www.theurbanist.org/seattle-coun...

Incredible news. Progress over stagnation!

Ryan Packer@typewriteralley.bsky.social

GOOD NEWS: Katie Wilson's proposed Seattle Transit Measure renewal will be maintained as a full ten-year, 0.3% measure after amendments to water it down were defeated. The council is still deliberating on other amendments, but those were the big ones on deck today.

Alright, nobody asked, and this has the potential to be offensive but here it is: you've got to create and stoke deeply partisan rivalries based on identity, all the things American soccer wants to avoid.

Deeply saddened to learn of the loss of my dear friend Satan, the Prince of Lies. Though we often disagreed about matters such as the appropriate role of torture in the afterlife, I will most remember how his quick wit and affable nature made our weekly golf outings a ritual. He will be missed.

Mainer, first, foremost, and forever. But I also take pride my former Minneapolitan and current Seattleite identities.

I'd be interested in some thoughts from Americans on here on an idea: Over the last 5 years, have you found yourself identifying more with your home state than the US as a whole over time?

Good. Alabama should influence my civil liberties as much as Papua New Guinea

Bus emission concern is the absolute biggest waste of time

Jarrett Walker@humantransit.bsky.social

Sounds like California's public transit investment policies need to be aligned with its climate goals. Running fewer buses so that they can be zero emission is not a climate policy, because it forces more people to drive.
