After posting the above about an hour ago, I've heard the sad news that Walter Koenig has died. I loved him in Star Trek, but it was his performance in Babylon 5 that still chills me. A fabulous actor who will be much missed.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

RIP, Walter Koenig.

Why is Bluesky pleasant to be on? Might be because people here still like linear television and communal viewing / listening. “Is everyone watching… XXXX?” “Just seen blah blah, catch it on the iPlayer” and so on. I think that’s actively important. We abandon that habit at our peril.

Here's a comparison of the shots featuring the USS Enterprise-D in orbit of the third moon of Valo I, as seen in the original ⬆️ and the remastered ⬇️ versions of #StarTrekTNG's "Ensign Ro". We rarely see a monn or planet with such a pockmarked or heavily cratered surface! :-)
