Canadians, we need to take notice of this. We don’t fight with much might, but look where strength in numbers, conviction based on real needs for the people, look where it can get you. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

@proton.me I will be 're-examining' which services I use. The implication is, if you're strong arming your employees into using AI you will lose me as a customer

I am minded once again of the principle that if a company has to force its employees to use a tool, that tool is probably not fit for purpose

proton.me This is not the way. I've supported you for years, but this behaviour will drive many of your customers (including me) away from your services. Workers and staff should be judged on their ability, not on their willingness to adopt AI.

yeah the promise to repeal SOGI already confirms two things: - as a parent, that they don't understand/care about the safety of my children - that they are willing to sacrifice good governance to appease the far right base (SOGI was originally brought in by the BC Liberals!)

And even then he is undoubtedly fiscally conservative (he is a "BC Liberal", not to be confused with the federal definition of "Liberal") which means cutting taxes for the rich and cuts for everyone else

White supremacists at the Legislature. A Nazi flag in Saanich. I am horrified & heartbroken for BC’s marginalized communities. We stand with everyone targeted by this hate, and will fight tirelessly for a province where everyone can live a safe, dignified life.

Canada stands with Brazil. There will be a growing alliance between Canada and Brazil. The response from MAGA is the language of violence and threat. "The time has come for the wicked and cowardly to meet their rewards." Unhinged nutbars.

no matter how valid it is that the cons are fucking terrible you can't expect people to turn out for that. you need a positive message that inspires ppl to actually vote for you. idk just very over the "vote for us or it'll be bad!" messaging these so called leftists have been doing my entire life

melvin8d.bsky.social reposted

really feels like the NDP weren't offering anything to their base other than "it'll be bad if we don't win this election we forced during another election" and that clearly is not an inspiring message that makes people want to show up :/

One Chart That Explains The 2026 B.C. Election

melvin8d.bsky.social reposted

One important factor in the BC Election was that the Conservatives did NOT win because voters surged towards them There was no BC CON wave. They got a very similar amount of voters as they did last time They won because Dave Eby failed to turn out the people who voted for him last election

melvin8d.bsky.social reposted

He did not compromise with fascists. This seems virtually inconceivable to Canadian politicians.

George Potter 🔶@georgepotter.bsky.social

It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

melvin8d.bsky.social reposted

I know the contexts are different, but Eby-ism failed, while Lula stormed to a comeback win tonight Lessons for the NDP going forward. In my humble view, Avi Lewis' vision for the party is far more Lula than Eby. That's a good thing.

For B.C. and for Canada, this is an existential moment. We have to decide as a province how we respond, and British Columbians deserve a say. That's why today I called an election for October 24.

The right knows how to channel the legitimate rage of working class people. The problem is where they direct that rage. It’s not immigrants and trans kids making your life impossible. It’s the bankers and the billionaires with all the wealth and power. It’s time to put the blame where it belongs.

Canadians can’t afford rent. Food bank use is at a record high. Wages are stagnant while the rich are getting richer than ever before. Of all the people who could use this kind of federal support right now, venture capitalists are at the bottom of that list. www.theglobeandmail.com/business/art...

BC, advance voting ends everywhere at 8pm PT today. Don't delay! This is a pivotal election for our province. As a British Columbian, I’m deeply concerned about what a BC Conservative government would do to our province, particularly the most vulnerable folks in our communities.

The ANC (and Mandela) were very violent and would not have gotten to where they were without it. The Good Friday agreement came about due to violence. There is no meaningful change that occurs without it throughout history. The violence of protestors is a direct response to the violence of the state

Martin Luther King was much more successful than Malcolm X for example. Before that, there was no need for a bloody civil war in most countries that abolished slavery. Just votes. Independence can also be bloodless. Gandhi in India, Walesa in Poland, Mandela in South Africa. The list is long.
