I’m actually stunned by the Brazil result. The best I was expecting when I went to bed was a court annulment for all the Bolsonarist cheating. Remind me when I get too gloomy that unexpected good things do happen.

If you’re in favour of ‘no unions’ and ‘low taxes’, frankly I’d much rather you did leave us alone and take your greedy, grasping, selfish selves to Dubai as quickly as possible.

Saudi Arabia thought bribing Trump was going to make everything ok. But Trump’s relationships are less alliances than transactions with expiration dates. Now, MBS is hiding in a different bunker every night, Saudi Aramco HQ is on fire, the nation's economy is in the tank, and Trump refuses to help.

Agree - and the hagiography around Badenoch herself in some Tory circles risks fuelling a faith-based (rather than evidence-based) belief in what she's doing. She's definitely better than she was, but she's not necessarily as brilliant as they think.

Another change in behaviour that applies to any cut in IHT (and especially taking more estates out of IHT) is that there will be less gifting of assets prior to death. That will hurt the economy & reduce tax takes since the recipients are more likely to spend the gifts than the person making them.
