Happy spooky week, everyone! I'll be posting a SpOoOkY 3D scanned keshi every day this week. First up is the Zombie from Ghosts 'n Goblins! This comes from a set of Ghosts 'n Goblins figures released by Takahashi, likely in or around 1986. archive.org/details/kesh...

Hello everyone!!! I’m proud to announce version 1.90 of the Ultimate Sierra timeline, now updated through the year 1990!!! I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback! And if you guys have any of the missing box covers, please reach out to me!! falcondesigns.ca/wp-content/u...

Your final 3D scanned Super Mario Bros. 2 board game pawn, and the final one to complete the set (!!!), is..... Hammer Bro! His thousand yard stare and white knuckled grip on his hammer clearly communicate his fervent desire to inflict blunt force trauma. archive.org/details/kesh...

Castlevania has just marked its 40th anniversary! To celebrate, I've 3D scanned what is by far the rarest keshi in my collection: Simon Belmont! Created by boutique toy maker Zoomoth, as few as 80 of these figures were ever sold, during just two days in 2014! Enjoy: archive.org/details/kesh...

Today's 3D scanned keshi is a board game pawn depicting Buzzy Beetle, from the Bandai board game based on the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros. 2! If the figure looks familiar, it's because Bandai reused it in their Super Mario World board game too! archive.org/details/kesh...

I'm embarrassed to say that I *just* realized that they named this guy "Mack" in the original localization of Super Mario RPG as a reference to Mack the Knife. Only took me 30 years to get it!😭

About a month ago, powmia99 discovered a way to trigger arbitrary code execution fully standalone in Animal Crossing GameCube with nothing but a controller. This was confirmed by Cuyler and I to work on vanilla hardware and we now have a setup that makes it 100% consistent.

Please check out the following wonderful folks who are archiving our world! 🧵 Starting with @ozidual.bsky.social, a total underdog when it comes to scanning Japanese games magazines and boxes! He’s been especially great with Famitsu spinoffs and Famicom stuff+type-ins archive.org/details/@ozi...

I strongly believe guerrilla archivists and amateur preservationists should stick together and be less insular. If you’re a scanner, digitiser, ROM ripper, or anything of the sort please let me know I would love to follow/signal boost your work! 💛

The prototype build opens with a pretty unhinged (and loud!) intro animation, missing from final, that shows a ton of early character designs.

Almost all the character designs (as seen in this concept art as well as that prototype intro) changed by the final game. some of these designs are pretty wild!

After a quick scan through, every level I've checked aside from Space Launch appears to be different from final. Here's the Underworld Lava level in the prototype (left) compared to final (right).

I interviewed @sincama.bsky.social and @luigiblood.bsky.social about bringing the most obscure bit of Super Mario Bros. 2 fandom to the English-speaking world for the first time ever. Also? Peach utters a profoundly offensive swear word. Really!

An unreleased Nintendo 64 game has been released today by Team Carrot. Kaminari no Gotoku: Choukousoku Igo by Seta is as you can guess from the screenshots a table Go game. This prototype build appears to be near final and can be fully played, as long as you have knowledge of Japanese and Go.

MELT, a lost 1997 PC game featuring Iron Maiden's Eddie, has been recovered! We're releasing a build for the first time, along with source code and an updated version for modern PCs. We also speak to developer Paul Tebbutt. Thanks to Tamaracade for their earlier research.

I'm working on recovering assets from a partially-intact June 2008 build of EA & Pandemic's canceled Dark Knight batman video game, codenamed Wildstar. Here's the Alfred VO I was able to recover. Some of the lines seem like they are actually read by Michael Caine (or a very good sound-alike)!

And here is audio I recovered from what is certainly the boss fight with Firefly which Alfred alluded to earlier. It sounds like he tries to bait you into a fight, only to be undone when the player jumps on his back mid-flight and destroys his jetpack.

Even more recovered Firefly boss fight VO. Visually and tonally, I don't think this Firefly would've fit with the Nolan films. I wonder if the game would have followed Dark Knight's plot at all? Based on the files I can see, it seems you fight many villains, and The Joker is just one of them.

Dug in and seems Pandemic's The Saboteur used the name "Wildstar" in its files too. Was it an engine name, or Saboteur's codename and they didn't update the project name for Batman? Supports @liamrobertson.bsky.social 's research that Dark Knight was built on Saboteur. Leftovers in Batman files:

More VO that I've recovered from what remains of this build of EA and Pandemic's canceled Dark Knight game from 2008. These are the only Batman lines I've found in the build; placeholders performed by someone making their best attempt at Christian Bale's bat-voice.
