Big ask but this book is being sent to US publishers this week & on the off chance you *had* been thinking you might read it & *did* want to take advantage of the free delivery & help push it higher up the Blackwell's chart, that'd help its chances of being published a lot & be much appreciated...
2000+ people in North America have bought this book on import from the UK. Many of them have told me they love it. Meanwhile, the UK publishing industry: "I'm sorry. We can't sell this book to an American audience. It is too British." FREE worldwide delivery here: blackwells.co.uk/bookshop/pro...

Instead we should focus on which messages, ideas, and visions beyond "we need to beat the far right" have mobilized large parts of society. We should understand the organizational structures behind these victories and acknowledge that they are about more than defending the status quo.

We need to stop always making the far right the subject of political agency and the object of voter decisions in our analyses of contemporary politics. The success of the far right is not inevitable. But single elections do not signal the end of the far-right threat to our democracies.

Many comments on the great election victories in Brazil and Serbia state that the authorian right is in decline or that voters have rejected far-right authoritarianism. That is a wrong interpretation of what happened. Progressive movements mobilized and beat the authoritarian right. That's different

The Student List had no party machinery. It operated through university assemblies, protests and hiking between cities & towns. They had 2% of national TV political advertising airtime vs 93% for Vučić. This is one of the most remarkable grassroots democratic victories in modern European history.

The alarm in Israel's business community over Netanyahu's comments is palpable. Suddenly centrist pundits are saying how important it is to end the war. Another proof that sanctions have to be on the table.
The threat of sanctions finally attracts the attention of Israeli media and voters. Thanks to Netanyahu, who promises Israelis a blockchain based economy to circumvent future sanctions. A massive own-goal just four days before polling day; he seems to be losing his game.
