Every few weeks I'll be asked to QA some bit of copilot excel formula to make sure it's doing what it should, and without fail, I find that it outputs overly complex and long formulae that is harder to check than what a human would write, this track with that experience
I have no words that are worth putting into the world right now that can capture my anger right now, and somehow I'm supposed to be up early again to face the day for another five days of tough field work
Regardless of what happens with the BC Provincial election tomorrow, David Eby can go fuck himself for engaing in such a profoundly ill advised political stunt
If by some miracle the NDP make a majority or minority government, his first action needs to be to step down
For the last 18 months, Ken Sim has focused on Sean Orr in a way we've rarely seen a mayor focus on an opposition councillor who isn't running for the top job
And in 10 days, we'll know if it was a smart move of a two-term mayor, or an unforced error of a one-term mayor

Before this field work, I'd run the numbers and thought I'd get a few extra days off beyond my two weeks off with the overtime...
Nope, it's four weeks extra time off, I'm gonna get so relaxed
Having a bit of a cry tonight
Field work is nice and busy, but I miss my wife and I miss my cat and I'd love to be cuddled up with both of them right now
Today I had an early webinar to lead and then a few hours to get everything finalized before I fly out for my field rotation, so of course last night insomnia kept me up until 5 AM
Started packing tonight for the next few weeks, realized that I hadn't opened my luggage in a while and entered what I thought was the code, which didn't work
Tried all 1000 codes, nothing
Took apart the bag to get a better look at the lock
Turns out the original code was correct 😵💫🙃
In two days I'll be starting my field rotation and while I'm glad that I'll have an apartment rather than a bunkhourse for the next six (or 10 😬) weeks, I am going to miss my place a bunch while I'm there
A bunch of people started firing off fireworks downtown last night and for a moment, I thought that *it* had happened, alas it was just a bunch of shitty 20 somethings disrupting the peace at 3 AM
happy coming out day, i wanted to share a zine i made a while back about being trans.
for anyone out there who may need to hear it, i support you and see you for who you are.
if you're cis & straight, the best thing you can do is stand up for your queer friends.
treat them just like anyone else.
Oh my goodness, finally paid off all my cards, which I wanted to try to get done before heading to the field, and thankfully because it kept fetting pushed back, I was able to get it done
I grew up with my grandpa telling me about some of the work he did in support of early nuclear testing in the Pacific, which was a fascinating thing to fill a young child's head with, but he was never specific about which tests he worked on
Last night I was watching a video about mushroom clouds and at the very end of the video, Operation Fishbowl was brought up and so much of what I was told lined up with that test
Anyways, called my mom this morning to ask if her dad was in Hawaii in 1962 and she laughed and confirmed
"JK Rowling is already a billionaire and everyone already knows about Harry Potter, what's the point of boycotting?"
Nobody thinks boycotting will bankrupt her. We know she's gonna die rich. We're just asking you to show a shred of solidarity with trans folk. Absolute low bar bare minimum shit.
I was tempted to pirate HP, curiosity and all that. But @jessiegender.bsky.social is right - think of the amount of times HBO commented on GOT leaks and downloads, just as an example.
They DO track these things, and even that drives interest.
Let this show die.
Trans people deserve better.
Either Jurassic Park or Independence Day
While I don't have an endearing story about the former, I legit wiggled a tooth loose so I would have reason to go home from a friend's party to avoid watching it any further
Ah yes, thank you Transport Fever 3, it's really great to have my coal mine and my steel mill on OPPOSITE CORNERS OF THE MAP
At least now I get to reenact what Union Pacific has to do in Wyoming
