It is no longer possible to "get you one" of the Doom limited edition Nexuses. But you should consider getting you one of the regular editions. Plays Doom just as well. Well presumably. I'll know for sure in a few days hopefully.

You Can See Everything talk follows. No specific spoilers, but putting a thought in thread here to keep discussion off folks' feeds and help keyword mutes:

A central tenet of Nathan Fielder's philosophy continues to be "if I watch a tree fall in the forest but I didn't film it, how can I be sure later that it made a sound?" (the answer ofc being "painstakingly grow a tree of the same species under similar conditions and film that one being cut down").

And I know part of it is a bit, and part of it is dedication to documentarian craft. But there's something so interesting to me about the idea that he needs all the information he takes in to be filtered through the lens of filmmaking in order to be able to properly process it.

I've been streaming Dr. Chaos for the NES recently. This is one of the first games I remember playing and has never been far from my thoughts (despite forgetting if it was even a real game for 30 years). Pumped to be playing it for real, now that I'm not 7 years old and know how to play games.

Holy shit did anyone watch this Banonkey Town documentary? Obviously I feel for anyone who lost money or loved ones to a con artist claiming to be channeling God. But the tonal whiplash of frequent cuts to "she had us working long hours building Banonkey Town" and a clip of a shitty mobile game.

Well, what do we have here? You must be a new arrival. Let me guess. The Duskbloods Network Test, right? Well, you're not the first. But there's no game server here. You'd have done better to rot in bed...But, too late now.

Real talk, I get that this whole thing is like 20% of the point of the Network Test and why it runs for a whole weekend. So I ain't mad.

As a reminder, there are only two types of people in the world: resistlibs and nazis. So if you try to do anything on this website other than reposting resistance larps from altgov accounts or posting AI images of Trump in a dunce cap you will be asked to leave.

Remember when this shit was just chain emails forwarded by your uncle who doesn't quite understand how the Internet works?

Beat Mega Man 2 Watch today lol. It was a pretty fun adaptation. The platforming felt fine, tho the couple swipe-to-turn segments were finicky. Boss fights were still about timing and pattern recognition, but I missed boss weapons and weaknesses.

Love to have a well-made indie game that offers some meat and some challenge without being the longest and most difficult game I've ever played. Mina really nails offering up some challenge while still always feeling achievable.

It is fine, good, and even useful to remember the past, so long as one doesn't get trapped there. The question is: what do we learn from the past and apply today so that some day we can say "the rise of the open social web was a beautiful moment in time."

John Scalzi@scalzi.com

My high school BBS was a beautiful moment in time. USENET and alt.society.generation-x was a beautiful moment in time. The beginning of the blogosphere was a beautiful moment in time. The early days of Twitter were a beautiful moment in time. They were great, and now they're gone. It's fine.

Me when I enter any snack store at any airport: aw fuck yeah combos lemme get some of those. Me later, on the plane: what the fuck who decided it was a good idea to get combos I hate those.

trezy.codesProof of Work - The Marshmallow Test got a response. Now the real test begins. After my critique of Bluesky's 2026 Report resonated across the Atmosphere, the company's new interim CEO reached out. We talked about what went wrong, what collaboration should look like, and why pri...

I had an opportunity to get on the phone with @toni.bsky.team this morning. As always, I'll remain skeptical until we see results, but I hung up feeling hopeful that the guy at the helm may, indeed, be able to right the ship.

I dunno, I think it's neat to play around with what these technologies can deliver to games, but it always feels weird when they get to mess with the art style and personality of the characters undirected.

Jay seized a historical moment and speed-ran Bluesky through some wild times. I'm glad she's found her own way back to the big picture. have had great conversations with @toni.bsky.team about standards work and open source governance. very important to have continuity of clueful leadership!

Reflecting on yesterday's #fediforum, which I'll blog about this weekend. A common claim was "we've built everything _we_ need, now we need to talk to others and build for them." If that's true, why was the event hosted on a closed platform? And used two different closed platforms for note-taking?

Talking to other groups and communities with different needs than us is definitely important, don't get me wrong. But we should also be honest with ourselves about where our own use-cases go unserved or underserved rather than pretending we're done there.

I think we're closer than we've ever been to the open social web bootstrapping all of its own community spaces. But we aren't there yet, and I think that's a neat milestone worth building towards.

Huge thanks to @fediforum.org and @masnick.com for organizing and facilitating today's un-workshop on Growing the Open Social Web. And everyone I met there that I'm gonna spend some time trying to track down and follow. It was a ton of fun, but now I have too much interesting stuff to think about!

The short answer is: I'm not betting on one over the other. I'm building on AT right now because of the DX and because AT fits my specific use-case better. When I want to build something that fits AP better, I'll use that instead...

Ronen Tamari@ronentk.me

Can everyone building on atproto please answer this question? 😇

Though I'm a white dude who is almost 40, so I both have a predisposition to Beastie Boys and mostly listen to music I know from high school, so that's probably part of it. Fr tho, I remember in high school going to the midnight release with my dad at Newbury Comics.
