After the first round elections, Congressman André Janones created a WhatsApp channel titled “Lula’s Army.” It ballooned to 10 million people following his commands on how to behave online to counteract Meta’s far-right-favouring algorithms. The right knows how to use socials. We must learn, too.

An absolutely fucking wild thing I just learned: In 2020 DNA-sequencing of human remains from c. 3,000 BCE identified two first cousins once removed. One had been buried near Rostov-on-Don by the Black Sea, the other in the Altai Mountains of the Mongolian borderlands, about 2,000 miles away.
You didn’t have to come out and SAY that you were packing up your ocean-crossing canoe to search across the seas for a new land just to get away from your awful family, but you know that had to have been a FACTOR for a lot of history’s intrepid explorers and settlers

There were 27 miles of rope used for rigging in Master & Commander. Modern rope naturally coils in the opposite direction of rope made during the Napoleonic wars. So the production paid a shop to make period accurate cordage.
We all know the "Viggo broke his toe" story but what's another movie fact you're personally compelled to bring up every time without prompting? For me, it's the fact that Robin Tunney is wearing a wig in The Craft because of having just shaved her head to save her job filming Empire Records.

just to offer a perspective I've not seen much of On Here: I work in codev, I'm not in the "core team". I'm an employee of a codev studio. I am a full time employee with all the legal benefits that entails. I also have better job security than I might at a studio. It's pretty great. I like my job!
Star Wars: Galactic Racer was made by a core team of 75 people. "What we wanted to do was keep that core small, smaller than perhaps you might have done in the past, and scale capacity and capability with what we call distributed development." https://bit.ly/4hT02qg

If you self-host and run PHP on it (which is very likely) you NEED to update it later today, ASAP. A major vulnerability that affects PHP versions since 5 has been found, which allows remote code execution (very bad). You MUST retweet and share with friends who self-host. THIS IS CRITICAL. ⚠️

Richard Todd is the only cast member of "The Longest Day" listed as both a character and an actor. He was a paratrooper in WW2 and the second man onto Pegasus bridge. He plays Major Howard, the man he followed onto it. Major Howard himself was the film's technical advisor. The two had fun on set

Hungarian art historian, Barki, was watching ‘Stuart Little’ in 2009 when he spotted the painting ‘Sleeping Lady with Black Vase’ by Bereny, hanging on set. A set designer had bought the painting for $500. The artwork vanished after a 1928 exhibition in Budapest and was presumed lost after WWII ❤️
