"Move fast and break things," say the people who, in an uncanny coincidence, are responsible for breaking the entire planet at a terrifying speed.

The lessons from Brazil and Serbia? Don't concede one inch of ground to the far right. Don't appease. Don't triangulate. Don't grovel. Don't say they have "legitimate concerns". Mobilise your base, and fight them with all the democratic means at your disposal.

So funny that nostalgia bait is finally trickling to older gen Z, who are going "the Firefox ad is genuinely cool, I don't care if it's cringe! This was the good ol days!" ....you're not going to believe this about all of the pandering to older generations you've made fun of for years!

Look! It's another one of those wildly accurate (sic) #AI 'maps' of #UK. Of fun note here: #Windsor moves to northwest of #London. #HamptonCourt Palace is now north of #Reading. #Brighton has miraculously de-camped inland. And #Canterbury appears to have a doppelgänger in #Essex!

"What makes these experiences feel related to me isn’t that a bicycle is somehow inherently queer; it’s that both can put you in the position of being treated as though your presence requires an explanation." This is such an insightful article.

"Why do aggressive men in cars want to yell at queer people, women, and cyclists? Cyclists feel like the oddball in this list; two of these are about sexual politics, and the third is about… transportation?" #motonormativity ✍️ @jesusurbanist.bsky.social jesusurbanist.substack.com/p/what-queer...

The Burnham government is happy to listen to transphobes galore but will move mountains to avoid listening to any trans people.

Mark Grimshaw@markgrimshawtism.bsky.social

If you thought the Conversion Practices Bill is already bad thanks to all the loopholes and allowances it provides, then don’t worry - it’s about to get worse. The Government are hearing “evidence” from anti-trans campaigners Helen Joyce, Dennis Kavanagh and the LGB Alliance this week.

I could spend the rest of my life analysing this feedback sign in the local Home Bargains. Did 'not happy' break from overuse? Was it taped over to ensure 100% positive feedback? Is the green 'b' in 'feedback' some kind of subliminal nudge? Is the duck tape indent because people still keep pressing?

In his acceptance speech, Lula says he will work to regulate digital platforms in Brazil. “Digital crimes must be dealt with like real-life crimes.” This comes after Meta directly interfered with the Brazilian elections, favouring Flávio Bolsonaro.

This drives me bonkers cause UK Citizenship isn’t easy, or free, or automatic. It is a process, an expensive one, and many people who are eligible for years still don’t get it. Burnham and his gang are lying in a way no different to Farage on EU migration. A lie to achieve xenophobic policy.

A weird change that has taken place in my lifetime is that in the past, British racists were aware of what mixed-race people were and were furious about it, as opposed to the New Racism, which frequently seems actively confused by the birds and the bees.

I remember many yrs ago one of my regular customers asked another of my regular customers "I seen you in Shields th other day with a couple of [racial slur] teenagers, what was that about that?" And the other guy replied "Do you mean my fucking grandchildren?" Never seen a man visibly shrink so fast

Sorry to see the British Library (@britishlibrary.bsky.social) going further down the enshittification curve, setting a very poor example and poorer precedent for public research libraries everywhere. This while many of its core services have still not been restored after the 2023 cyberattack.

Just imagine what things could have been like if Manchester weren't forced to have a referendum on congestion charging, stopping it in happening in the rest of the country.

But this is looking at GDP only. The parent in Texas spends on average 4.5 hours sitting in the car. The Japanese parent has a free range kid who walks himself to school. Japanese is "poorer" but I would prefer it.

Oh, and by the way, given I know a lot of my followers haven't been watching this story? That trans doctor the Daily Mail article is fixated on? Did absolutely nothing wrong. Cleared of every charge. Was just living her life, forced to flee the country by NHS bigots and the British media. Yeah.

I think my favourite quote from @garethdennis.uk in this piece is: "The railways were built by moronic Victorian capitalists who had no view of the future." 🤣🤣 The comment on NPR is also good. Anyway, this is an incredibly crucial point! #NPR #Railways

The announcement of a brand spanking new station in Bradford this week was delivered with excitement. But plenty were confused.Officials have danced around the elephant in the room since as well. Bradford Interchange is a dead end. @garethdennis.uk tells us a through-station isn't viable there.

Also. You *cannot* eat liver too often, like no more than 3-5 ounces in a *week*. Beef liver has a ton of Vitamin A which can cause all sorts of health issues. Especially if you’re pregnant! Oh! And you can get GOUT, which is super fun. None of which he knows because he’s not a doctor. Ugh.
