I don't have idols for many reasons, but I used to look up to Dawkins. He has since devolved into a crackpot and a grifter and lost the sense of introspection that I admired. Time to call it a day, Richard.

Katie Lied Trump's latest show biz kid wore a deacon blue blazer fit for a yacht rocker, but when she smiled for the camera, out came the pretzel logic. Tomorrow, she'll go back and do it again—the major dude in the White House needs someone to do his dirty work. by Maureen Dowd

I don't mind the shine that Nashville is getting from their very good soccer team. If we can make soccer hot in Tenne-fucking-see, then soccer must be winning the war.

Nashville SC would officially clinch the Supporters’ Shield this week with wins against Sporting KC (Wednesday) and San Jose Earthquakes (Saturday), as long as Vancouver Whitecaps drop points in just one of their next two matches.

Mike Johnson indicated that he might retire from the House of Representatives altogether if Republicans fail to retain control of Congress in the midterm elections. Earlier this year, Johnson indicated that he saw no way for Republicans to lose the midterms, saying, “This is a God thing.”

@radiofreetom.bsky.social I know that I'm always a little late to get in on the stimulating political discussions you have with your followers, but is this a good time to mention that in the Babylon 5 universe San Diego was nuked in the 21st century? What? It isn't?

I’m told there was a slight shift in the Times’ plans. While killing soccer beat coverage was supposed to be the first of a gradual change, Times leadership is instead pulling the band-aid off and killing hockey, Storm and UW basketball beat coverage too. No layoffs, at least not yet, just this.

An 87-year-old woman lived in the same apartment for 71 years. A real estate firm bought it. Her rent jumped from about €500 to €2,650. She was evicted and carried out on a stretcher. Thousands marched in Madrid. 71 years in one home. Gone after that rent hike.

As someone who lives closer to tacoma than Seattle, I'd see more games, but I'm not sure I'd have more fun. Hmm.

Possible dumb thought: Why couldn't we convert dead retail space into explicitly "shit tier" performance space? Imagine hearing the local punk band playing a shot out of the old Walden Books at the mall.

Pros: It's already rated for x number of people, has bathrooms, Emergency exits are still in place, lots of parking Cons: No booze. Just not worth the effort. But there is a food court. Power and occupants are limited so no crazy light shows or pyro. (oo, wrestling ring... hmm)
