Amazing how quickly we went from "oh no LLMs are going to flood the Internet with insecure code" to "oh no LLMs have discovered the internet was already flooded with insecure code"

AI certainly is not without risks, as we are witnessing now with tons of CVEs dropping. But it's precisely the fact that AI *works* that it's dangerous while we have half of Bluesky still going "it's just a stochastic parrot that can't reason arglebargle"

StephenLee@stephenlee49.bsky.social

AI can be very useful, but even it's progenitors agree that it can also be very dangerous.

Creating vibe-clones of existing software, which are (slightly) worse than the original, does not impress me anymore That sort of project was an interesting proof-of-concept, but the problem is solved now I want to see vibe-coded, top quality, novel implementations of new ideas Do the impossible!

"Your role is to give direct, non-interactive responses to questions. Do not ask for clarification or further details. If no location is given, assume the user is asking about the UK." literally the worst possible system prompt/experiment design you could do for this benchmark. amazing.

Full Fact@fullfact.org

For 10 weeks, we asked five AI chatbots the same questions every day. None repeated the core misinformation they were tested on, but they reported proposals as law, quoted outdated figures and gave different answers on different days. Our first report: fullfact.org/ai-benchmark...

one of the most annoying aspects of defending AI on here is people who conflate it with caping for these corporations who clearly do not care about anyone or anything besides profit and power

DemigirlBOObs@demigirlboss.win

Anthropic are not the good guys, and are in fact actively the bad guys, that much is pretty trivially established by now I think. I would like to put forward a new thesis, however. That Anthropic are also a bunch of Godless vibecoders possessing neither the acumen nor the dignity for engineering.

no, no, I said i'm a DUELIST. your insipid theory of consciousness offends my honor and I demand satisfaction

ThePaSch reposted

The reason the AI consciousness debate is so annoying isn’t that AIs are conscious (my view is that they’re probably not, for the ten gazillionth time), but that saying they are CONCLUSIVELY not conscious resolves a bunch of specific questions about consciousness that are very much unanswered.

ThePaSch reposted

people who state that current AI models are either definitely conscious or definitely not conscious are way more confident about it than I am

i think AI turns everyone into a religious zealot one way or another

it makes me indescribably sad that _this_ is the AI rollout we’re stuck with. Can’t undo that anymore- Think of the world we could’ve had with responsible people at the helm, instead of the one we’re almost certain to get now with… who we’ve got instead.

Francisco González@grundislav.games

I see people saying this sort of thing often, and quite frankly it makes me sad. The truth is, more people are making good adventure games now than were ever made during the “golden age” of the 90s. For example: 🧵

Methinks this guy should probably rewatch his own video on the “Asshole Singularity”. I see exactly one post from an account worth a damn conjuring discourse about the other app out of thin air, and the call is coming from inside the house.
