i don't think anyone should run explicitly on banning online gambling but i do think that a democratic-led government should just quietly take steps to undermine the industry and create an inhospitable regulatory environment

First and foremost Samuel Sey does not deserve this treatment and it is abhorrent. Secondly, the ones cheering this on are probably the ones who turned him and their racism is on full display and despicable. Finally this should be a wake up call- It. Does. Not. Matter. How. Much. Water. You. Carry.

Roys Report@roysreport.bsky.social

Samuel Sey wrote for The Daily Wire, World, TPUSA and Founders Ministries, arguing deportation is a Christian duty. He's now in an Ohio jail on an ICE hold, uncharged. Some allies call it a paperwork error. Others are cheering. "This is what I voted for," one wrote. roysreport.com/christian-co...

The fact that the president's doctors are giving him the dementia test over and over again -- tracking his decline, most likely -- and that the president keeps bragging about having to take that test should be a five-alarm fire.

Do you know why the cops keep pulling me over and giving me a breathalyzer after I have six drinks at the bar and swerve into oncoming traffic? Because I keep crushing the test, that’s why.

I hope Democrats are ready to blow up the system with campaign finance and transparency reforms. Trust is already at an all-time low. We don't get out of this mess without rebuilding trust.

the routine, pay for play pardons are all by themselves one of the worst corruption scandals in american history!

Don Moynihan@donmoyn.bsky.social

My brain cannot process this level of corruption. She was being paid $50 million to engineer a pardon from Trump *while working at the Justice Department* as a "Special Government Employee." And it worked. He got the pardon, and she got the money. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/20/u...

Trump is not the biggest threat to democracy or the world order. A Congress that will not stand up for itself and ceded ignored all corruption is much worse. Republican Congresscritters care more about their individual power and cult partisanship than they do Congress itself or the country.

That word, "accountability" - there's the rub. We can see the fingerprints of Christian nationalism here. Think of all the churches and denominations that refuse to hold predatory male pastors accountable, because protecting fragile men's power is more important than actually following Christ.

That mentality has always existed in the halls of power, of course. America's rich men have never been above accountability, but they've faced less of it than the rest of us. But give them a feckless Congress that won't defend itself, motivated by religious fervor? It's a whole new fascist ballgame

Partisanship and cult status shouldn't matter here. Republicans stood up to Nixon. Not the same in scale or threat but many Democrats opposed FDR's courtpacking. If the only way to stop a rogue, anti-American president is to ensure we have a Congress from the other party, something is broken.

I worry, because if the only opposition to a president comes form the other party, his supporters and a lazy corporate media can always brush off true accountability as mere partisanship.

“I should only pay taxes for things I use,” is the attitude of someone who doesn’t care about bettering society. I don’t have kids. I still want my taxes to go to schools because what happens when it doesn’t? *waves around blithely* This crap.

“I should only pay taxes for things I use” is a fun precept to adopt after you’ve stopped using services that were funded by the full tax base — you would have needed to pay much much more when your kids were in school if seniors hadn’t been pitching in with property taxes back then!

I love Bouie's point here. We as a people are so racked by anger and conflict. But literally nothing gets better when we choose to respond to legitimate threats with screams. Everything gets better when we see our opponents as equal humans with dignity - even when they refuse to see others that way.
