A pet theory of mine is that one reason the Netherlands are so good at so many sports relative to their population because the kids are able to independently go to practices growing up and don’t rely on parents driving them places, and the population density allows for more niche activities

We were let down. We knew this long ago of course. It’s a national scandal. “The lives of NHS staff and patients were put at risk in the pandemic because of a lack of adequate personal protective equipment (PPE), the Covid inquiry has said.”

Really interesting research, great thread. Consumers don't know how much more dangerous SUVs are to people outside cars; but even when informed, they don't care. It's going to take regulation, not education, to solve this.

🚨 New research by us! 📣 Most British drivers don't know how dangerous SUVs are to other road users, but adding information to SUV marketing materials seems to do almost nothing to change people's plans to buy SUVs Here's a 🧵 on why harder action is going to be needed 1/10

A shirtless white man, in the street with a knife in his hand, having attacked and wounded five people, allegedly shouting anti-Muslim slogans is the sixth story on the BBC UK news page. There is absolutely no doubt at all this would be the lead story if attacker and intended victims were reversed.

Sky News projecting a national vote share for Reform of 27%, based on results so far. That’s four points down on what they achieved in local elections last year. Somewhat of a counter to the prevailing narrative. More evidence that Reform appears to have peaked.

Rona Wightman reposted

This is repellant, but it is also an opportunity. To win, Reform would rely on a lot of voters not fully signed up to its agenda – people sick of the established parties and want to roll the dice on something new. The more this stuff is publicised, the harder those voters are to win over (or keep).
