Oh I guess I need an updated intro post! - stationary pathologist 🔬 - Writer having another existential crisis. Mainly SFFH. "Why is publishing like this" is my vibe - Philly sports 🦅 \\V// 🏀 - disability/chronic illness (POTS + autoimmune) - everything is on 🔥 - trans rights, free Palestine ✌️

So far, remarkably high turnout by young Black voters in Georgia. Eye-popping chart.

We, internationally, need to do exactly what the Brazilians did and lead by example with: 1) Block all far right figures/accounts 2) Never share a far right account even to dunk on them 3) Never reply to a far right account even to dunk on them Completely cut their algorithmic advantage

691 words about Cheesecake. 434 words about rape.

North Carolina legislators closed their on-campus voting sites. HBCU students marched miles to vote anyway

A reminder, because it is almost that time of year: More children are killed by cars on Halloween than any other day of the year, by far. www.vox.com/future-perfe... If you're a parent, I hope you'll do what you can to keep kids safe. If you're driving on Saturday, PLEASE exercise extra caution.

Hey y’all 💗 Thanks to your kindness, we've made progress, but we’ve had to reopen our GoFundMe. We still owe UPS about $40,000. If you can donate or share our story, it would mean so much. Thank you for your continued support! gofund.me/c55f7fe89

If you knew you were going to be going through a physically and mentally difficult stretch in your life but at this point you feel fine, what would you do with your time?

i am inviting anyone from a legacy media organization to explain to me why the house judiciary dems report on trump’s epstein’s ties and multiple allegations of rape isn’t worthy of extensively reporting on. i’m serious. i want to understand.

Whose team is this? That looked almost easy. #Eagles

I really need the world to understand this: THE MOST VOTED CONGRESSPERSON PERSON IN BRAZIL IS A BLACK TRANS WOMAN. Her name is Erika Hilton. DO NOT LET ANYONE THROW TRANS AND BLACK PEOPLE UNDER THE BUS.

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

I live in a rural town and, like, I don't know how to tell you this, but the girls play on the boys team and vice versa all the time because otherwise we don't have enough players for a game and it's literally always fine so stop being weirdos about kids sports and just let trans kids play.

If Americans need our little southern recipe for how to defeat fascism it goes like this: - Put people in the streets by standing for popular demands (wages, healthcare, public services) - Do not engage with fascists online - Do not succumb to doomsayers or media-driven narratives - Be happy

I know I say this every time, but it's true. They try to make you believe they are inevitable, when in fact they are defeatable. They do this because once people believe they will always win, there's no point fighting back.

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

BREAKING: Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva won an unprecedented fourth term, the country’s electoral court said, defeating challenger Flávio Bolsonaro, who sought to revive his father’s far-right movement.

$25 needed, please help if you can

There are good things happening in the world

Despite orders for polls to remain open for an extra two hours, results are already coming in, including from states with the strongest evidence of voter suppression, like Bahia. This will be a long night. What is happening is an unprecedented crime against democracy in Brazil.

Bolsonaro-friendly mayors appear to be sabotaging public transport on Election Day. Buses aren’t running in Lula-friendly areas, flights and ferries mysteriously canceled. Traffic lights have gone out and people’s power cut in Salvador, indigenous people’s travel restricted

We are watching a coup d’état attempt unfold in real time in Brazil. I’m consumed by desperation.

Lane Bryant is having a Buy 2, Get 2 Free sale on bras and their bands go from 34-54 and their cups go from B-K get yourself some decent bras my friends.

DUE TODAY, stuck at $455 of $700 for rent. Cannot survive without housing, so please consider chipping in? Shares are also a key way to help. Never know who might be able to contribute!

Slow Horses... just started though

As turnout in Texas nears 3 million votes, Hispanic turnout is now exceeding presidential levels. More Hispanics have voted than did at this point in the 2024 presidential election. What's driving this huge increase? Young voters.

So excited for a full day of football (without any Eagles nonsense). I need the distraction badly.

Donations have slowed so I’m boosting for today. Any little bit helps, as do shares!

Particularly fond of the ol’ Tiger Prawns…

Apologiiiize

"I have never believed in the maxim "those who can, do; those who can't, teach." But I have come to believe, at least in the U.S., that those who can't, buy." Oh yes. Elizabeth Koch and David Ellison have that in common.

you need to watch the whole thing for context but around the 2:45 mark it starts to become a beautiful piece of performance art

This is absolutely true, but also I actually HAVE used algebra, physics, and chemistry in my adult life--not writing related! Now, granted, not terribly advanced algebra or chemistry or physics. But I have absolutely used them, consciously.

What a story

I just saw alt text for video. I did not know we had this.

If you are one of 107,337 voters with an unvoted NC absentee ballot, if you are using USPS, I STRONGLY suggest mailing by MONDAY OCT 26. Alternatively, return it in person during business hours to your county board of elections thru Nov 3, or return it at any early voting site thru Oct 31. #ncpol

So my grandmother passed last week and unsurprisingly, for her, did not have anything set up for her death. I am also about to enter lean times as a chronically ill person who has not recovered enough for work and yet won’t have a job as of November! So, I need 2k to bury her without burying myself.

In 2016, we published potentially the largest single feature to ever appear in Game Informer magazine with a full oral history of the legendary studio, BioWare. We've made that feature available online following reports of the studio's impending closure. gameinformer.com/feature/2026...

Dragon Age Origins my favorite game of all time, the one that made me a forever gamer. Thank you BioWare.

Former BioWare Senior Writers Mary Kirby (Varric, Vivienne, Lucanis) and Sylvia Feketekuty (Liara, Josephine, Emmrich) and Sarah Hayward (Former BioWare Cinematic Director) have found a home at North Mist with many others in our network.
