I guess I should post some sort of (re-)introduction on here? Hi, I'm Scott. I don't post much, but I'm hoping to post more on here than I have other places lately. I stopped using Twitter a while ago and used Threads and Mastodon a bit before settling here. I like it here. 😄

If a Nazi bought my favorite restaurant, I’d simply stop dining there. If for some reason I didn’t, I can’t imagine trying to convince others to come back. I’ve been reading John for a very long time, but besides rooting for the Yankees and Cowboys this is as wrong as he’s ever been.

$100 to any reporter who asks him, "so you're saying Capitol Police should've shot dead everyone who breached the Capitol on January 6?"

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Homan on people getting killed by ICE: "It comes down to one simple fact -- these people failed to comply with law enforcement ... all they had to do is comply. If they did, they'd be alive today."

I get that this won’t happen anytime soon, but it’s the right answer.

no one wants to consider my insane pitch which is to eliminate timezones across the planet so we’re all on the exact same time and force everyone to change their conception of what a day is

Doesn’t really get more Peak Democrat Brain than “sucks that the court just torched the clear will of the voters, I’m gonna need everyone to vote harder to fix this”

Spanberger: I am disappointed by the Supreme Court of Virginia’s ruling, but my focus as Governor will be on ensuring that all voters have the information necessary to make their voices heard this November in the midterm elections because in those elections we — the voters — will have the final say.

Humanity did that. Science did that. Publicly-funded research did that. Excellent universities did that. Diversity did that. International cooperation did that. Artemis II is a perfect example of what we can do at our best. Welcome home, Integrity crew!

Any Media or Political Elite that suggest the way to move forward from Trump is to bury the past, rather than rigorously investigate & prosecute, is automatically disqualified.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump is committing war crimes in Iran and is threatening more and worse ones. His entire war strategy at this point is war crimes. A functional Congress would be far down the road of impeachment and removal.

Not that I was ever going to move to Utah, but I’m definitely not ever moving to fucking Utah. That’s where I stand.

Utah just became potentially the first state in the country to require students to read Bible passages in public school as part of their social studies lessons — starting as early as third grade. We want to know where you stand.

republicans are in charge of everything and they are getting everything theyve ever wanted and doing everything theyve ever wanted and the world is on fire and the global world order is collapsing. is there a correlation? who can say

the important thing i think is that they get comfortable now with living in federal facilities

Trump officials moving onto military bases is a ridiculous, absolutely inappropriate thing, and the NYT story that credulously credited claimed threats as justifying such a move is also ridiculous.

If you won’t say this, you should not hold public office

AOC: We are going to have to reckon, as a country, with this time. And I hope that that reckoning includes prosecution of people who are involved with the lawbreaking and human rights violations they are knowingly engaging in right now.

I’m a complicated person. I think our prison industrial complex needs to be dismantled and far fewer people incarcerated. I also firmly believe that we need to fill those prisons full of every single person in the current administration, every single ICE officer…

I saw it too:

It’s become clear over the years that every single MAGA accusation is a confession. I’m not a conspiracy theorist by any means, but if you told me we’d all eventually find out that Trump and his team were behind him being shot at, I would not be even a tiny bit surprised.

I’m a firm ”No Kings” guy, but if I had to live in a kingdom, this is my choice.

When the Catholic Church is more progressive than the Democrats we need new Democrats.

Scott Horton@robertscotthorton.bsky.social

We're now seeing a steady march of Catholic prelates with obvious backing from the Vatican saying hat it's time now to defund and liquidate ICE.

We’re so done as a country if Democrats can’t even vote against something as unbelievably unpopular as funding ICE. The leadership needs to go and every single rep needs to be challenged in the next primaries.

NEW: DHS appropriations bill funding ICE passes 220-207 7 Democrats voted YES on the bill: - Jared Golden - Marie Gluesenkamp Perez - Henry Cuellar - Tom Suozzi - Laura Gillen - Don Davis - Vicente Gonzalez One Republican voted NO: Thomas Massie

Recent statements from political strategists and Democratic Party insiders seem to suggest that the party’s strategy for the 2026 midterm races — particularly in hotly contested swing districts — will be to focus on economic concerns rather than on holding President Donald Trump accountable.

My grandfather used to count out a specific number of each coin every morning to put into his pocket. I wish I remembered the exact amount because there was logic behind it. The last time I left the house with change in my pocket I was on my way to the arcade to play Street Fighter II circa 1993.

Do people keep coins on them? Like, for paying for things? I feel like I never keep coins on me anymore and I'm not sure if that's weird or not.

This is a thread well worth reading.
