Through 14 innings of fearless, near-perfect playoff baseball, this was the gutsiest call of the night. This will be honored 30 years from tonight.

Midway through the 15th inning, the beloved "Humpy" mascot picked up his first career victory in the Salmon Run race. Moments later, Jorge Polanco sent the #Mariners to the ALCS for the first time in nearly a quarter-century. sports.mynorthwest.com/mlb/seattle-...

I grew up in a lower income immigrant family and we ate at Red Lobster for "special days." But we also understood the White House should not look like the inside of Red Lobster. It's condescending to assuming working ppl are culturally illiterate bc their experience is shaped by their limited means.

At this point, I'm all but certain CEQA does more harm than good to the environment and I'd support abolishing it (with some limited exceptions). But the carve out for HSR gives up the entire game. Vote no on Prop 45.

Californians for Electric Rail@calelectricrail.org

If conservatives are so concerned about the burden CEQA places on CA High-Speed Rail, why did they carve out HSR from Prop 45? Maybe it has something to do with the numerous CEQA lawsuits filed by GOP-aligned Central Valley landowners against HSR?

I am entirely serious when I say that this should be seen as a moderate position. It specifically and surgically dismantles institutions that did not exist pre-9/11 and assigns their functions much as they were assigned pre-9/11.

Rep. Delia C. Ramirez has introduced a bill that would abolish not just ICE, but the DHS altogether, repealing the 2002 law establishing the agency and replacing it with one focused on protecting civil and human rights.

That is LITERALLY WORD FOR WORD THE OPPOSITE of what Section 230 means. Section 230 protects you from liability BECAUSE CONGRESS WANTS THEM TO MAKE EDITORIAL CHOICES. Why do so many people on this platform fall for MAGA propaganda about 230?

It's deeply funny that the dodgers are gonna get swept and we're still gonna have a strike next year because the owners are greedy and Bryce Harper is an asshole (complementary).

High speed rail service to smaller cities is international best practice and a great way to boost ridership. Nothing about stops in Bakersfield and Madera prevents CAHSR from running express trains from SF to LA.

Infrastory@infrastory.bsky.social

Endless arguments ensue about how many stops high speed trains should have but this is the wrong question; the right question is what the different service patterns look like. You can always have an Express. Read the latest Infrastory: infrastory.substack.com/p/the-myth-o...

If you want to know why it feels like there is no direction or vision in LA, this is why. The LA establishment is stuck 50 years in the past, serving people like the Sherman Oaks HOA who want all the opportunity of being a global city while pretending their neighborhood is a village.

Bass hates taco trucks because she’s running for the mayor of 1984 Los Angeles; Raman is running for mayor of 2026. And the Sherman Oaks HOA believes in an American dream of suburbs without a city, and Bass is willing to pretend that’s sustainable.

Bill Clinton got House and Senate Democrats (zero Republicans) to pass a bill that cut the deficit by $500 billion through a mix of tax increases and spending cuts, setting the table for years of economic growth and a fiscal surplus. The party's reward was a crushing defeat in the 1994 midterms.
