the best mindset for how to treat the press actually came from a report i read about george w bush eons ago: treat them like a special interest group. they have their obsessions and fetishes and whatnot but theyre not god. they dont get to dictate shit. bsky.app/profile/lafo...
💯 out-shout and ignore the scolding and calls for politesse from media folks
@veritasknight.bsky.social @casualfriday.bsky.social every once in a while I still see shit like this and think of "I am a Democratic Socialist..."

Any politician who’s willing to throw away one group’s rights is willing to throw away everyone’s rights. It’s that simple. Every single consultant, pundit and candidate who’s shown a willingness to abandon trans rights needs to be shunned from the party forever
Kansas Dem Sen. nominee Adam Hamilton on trans rights: “I don’t think we should take a small group of people and bully them, pick on them, and hurt them. I understand one thing really clearly when it comes to transgender people, and that is Jesus told me I was to love my neighbor as I love myself”

the handful of die-hard anti-trans voters that exist are going to vote GOP no matter what. so this ad will not pick up a single new voter. all it does is further disenfranchise trans ppl – a marginalized group MAGA hates. this is a pro-MAGA ad & Turek is furthering MAGA's cause by airing it
Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.

Brb changing password and switching shoulder connection protocols
we've identified another vulnerability leak. now hackers on the dark web have identified your bad knee and that weird thing your shoulder does if you sleep on it wrong. there's no patch available for this, they're now just keenly aware you feel like your career has stalled out

Okay, it's #SteamNextFest and there's a lot of demos out there, so here's a quick thread of suggestions to try out, a lot of these I might not have played, they're just what's tickling my fancy. Let's start with Queen's Domain which is releasing on the 30th!

This is a real nice bit of business for NJD. Pretty much last year's 1st, a 2nd three years from now, and a bunch of spare parts for Hellebuyck makes me wonder how bad the other offers were. Still plenty in hand to go hunting bigger game. Also, fire Cheveldayoff. Unforgivable asset management.
🚨 TRADE ALERT 🚨 Winnipeg has traded Connor Hellebuyck to New Jersey for Dawson Mercer, Nico Daws, Alexander Command, Nick Bjugstad, a 2029 2nd round pick and a 2027 7th round pick.

🧵 Matt Yglesias is one of the biggest reasons the Democratic Party leadership is so feckless, cowardly, and lazy. I'm not exaggerating. Yglesias is often a featured speaker at private Democratic Party events, despite almost always being wrong. Let's discuss...
A helpfully clear exchange here Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028." Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"

this is me again saying dems need to stop campaigning on policy and go full vibe/meme based because that's how you get this cohort and there's a lot of them
New: Low-info voters, who put Trump in the White House, now look even more anti-Trump than high-info voters, and give Dems bigger margins on the generic ballot. 1 out of 3 Trump voters who can't name the party in charge of Congress now back Dems for 2026. www.gelliottmorris.com/p/poll-low-i...

Interesting. Unless the price has come down, I'm a little surprised Mehta is willing to shell out what WPG would want. I'm not sure this would get NJ out of the East's mushy middle, but if the gamble does work, does it make it easier to get Quinn? Could they even afford it?
Sources: New Jersey and Winnipeg are working on a Connor Hellebuyck deal. We will see what develops.
The whole thing where they do speeches from behind glass really feels like such a chickenshit move that I don't feel like anyone really criticised at all. Maybe if you have to worry that much about the heat, you shouldn't be in the kitchen. Seems very un-Alpha.

When Weld County tried to secede from Colorado over a decade ago, the thing that the proto-MAGA kept saying was that the vote was about demonstrating how serious they were to make the state take their concerns seriously. Hopefully Canada chooses to ignore and marginalize those dipshits.

It's disheartening to see the largest publications in the nation not cite original reporting from independent/individual reporters. Not one mention of @marisakabas.bsky.social's work in ID'ing Tommy. Instead, the WSJ implies that Tommy came forward himself. Disingenuous, at best.

SCOOP: 'Tommy' from the now-viral exchange with Abdul El-Sayed is Thomas Teepell, a former staffer for Republican Senator Josh Hawley with close ties to Christian Nationalist Sean Feucht. He's the son of a former Bobby Jindal staffer whose consultant work was instrumental in getting Hawley elected.

fine. get them into a committee room and let them assert that it is their first amendment right to be biased on the record. let them admit it is their editorial *choice*. that they have some agency. couldn't care less if MSNow has to do the same. stop letting them hide their biases.
People demanding Zuck be hauled before Congress to explain why No Kings insta was suspended... how would you feel if MAGA GOP hauled MSNow execs to explain why they covered Trump the way they do? Both are editorial choices protected by the First Amendment. If this annoys you...

So when does the EU snatch up Elon during a visit there and then prosecute him and take everything he owns? Hell, if you do it after November or 6 weeks ago, MAGA doesn't even care about him. He's only a useful idiot while he's spending money.
Zelenskyy says Starlink restrictions REMAIN in Ukraine, crippling interceptor drones and military operations. He says Ukraine has evidence the restrictions are DELIBERATE after testing Starlink systems in the EU, where they worked perfectly at speeds that cause connections to fail inside Ukraine.

Update: without explanation, and after being suspended for more than an hour during peak mobilization time, Zuckerberg's Instagram restored the No Kings account but we still lack admin access. More to come. Rest assured we will not stop organizing against this regime and its collaborators.
