Once mass spam texts were made legal, younger donors vanished, leaving a grassroots fundraising machine that subsists on squeezing vulnerable seniors, some of whom give hundreds of times a day. It’s a horrific model. Consultants get generationally wealthy, and the party hollows out its future.

Jake Grumbach@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social

We found that as of right now 73% of your campaign donation goes back to the consultants and vendors (!!!), four times more than just 20 years ago. Only 13% to ads. Even I was shocked.

maybe getting up every morning and reading 300-character synopses of all the terrible things people did without consequence in the past 24 hours is bad for my mental health, who can say really

wow, JKR & HBO must be scared shitless about the backlash to the new HP series. I can't wait to cancel my HBO subscription on December 1st – you should too!

It’s depressing to see schools use AI to create flyers, banners, & t-shirts. When I was in high school the faculty would come to the art department to have students create these things. I learned so many skills that have followed me my entire professional life. That’s what I thought school was for.

You know, Jean Twenge has been saying some real dipshit stuff since the early days of Millennial (then Gen Y) coverage but this really takes the frozen diarrhea cake.

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

Young teenagers are less likely to identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual than a few years ago, according to a new analysis. “It really does look like a free fall,” Jean Twenge, a professor of psychology, said. “But what’s causing it is unclear.”

My favorite part of this is how Jack Smith is so utterly baffled by Schmitt's bonkers conspiracy theory that, when Klobuchar is like "the Iowa Hawkeyes, right?", his response is just "uh, I just wanted to see Caitlin Clark play Maryland."

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

holy shit -- turns out Jack Smith went to a Hawkeyes game in Maryland but Schmitt's team is so reckless they concocted a conspiracy theory that Smith was actually in Atlanta seeing a Hawks game and colluding with Fani Willis. Klobuchar points out to Schmitt, "you have your teams wrong."

Silas Hansen reposted

It’s really great that Eric Schmitt wasted everyone’s time because he can’t tell the difference between the Atlanta Hawks and the Iowa Hawkeyes, meanwhile people in Missouri are struggling to pay for utilities, gas, groceries, housing, and child care.

lmao @ Schmitt getting DRAGGED by Amy Klobuchar

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

🤡 Schmitt beclowns himself 🤡 Schmitt concocted an elaborate conspiracy theory that Smith traveled to Atl for a Hawks game and to collude with Fani Willis, & flashed his "evidence" before accusing Smith of perjury. There's just one problem -- his facts were totally wrong. Here's the whole sequence:

im really and truly not the kind of person to shame people for the media they consume but if you watch the new harry potter you can get fucked

As someone who has been tweeted about personally by Rowling. And who spends my whole life trying to fight the damage caused by the litigation she funds. I think, personally, I would be less harmed by you giving me an actual kick in the ribs than watching the new Harry Potter & trying to justify it.

If you want to watch children get abused, there's always Texas high school football.

The Verge@theverge.com

As a new Harry Potter trailer makes the rounds, it bears repeating that there’s no way to watch this show without supporting J.K. Rowling’s bigotry and the structural violence she’s inflicting on the trans community.

There is something so frustrating about watching basically every staff sports writer completely mangle this story about transphobia in the WNBA, while so many trans journalists who would do a great job (and who have been pitching stories about this!) are struggling to get hired and make ends meet.

Remembering how during the Claudine Gay scandal, one of its biggest promoters of the story was Bill Ackman. Then someone uncovered that Ackman's own wife was a professor alleged to have committed much more serious academic misconduct than Gay and then nothing happened to her.

I HATE it when people say “the culture wars” or “the discourse” are ruining the WNBA. BE PRECISE. Right-wing fascists are introducing misogyny and bigotry through their narratives and demands, in an effort to delegitimize an organization full of popular black women who vocally champion inclusivity.

of all the washed up players who could do this, Royce White is the funniest. he literally had to leave the NBA because he’s too scared of flying.

I’m rewatching the Nolan Batman trilogy and I am a big fan of these movies but also: did it not ever occur to the police—or anyone else in Gotham—that the mysterious billionaire who owns the defense company might be the guy with all of that equipment? lmao

Similarly, if a random citizen at your daughter's soccer game wanted to check the genitals of the kids playing, you would call the fucking cops, and rightly so. Stop debating these people and call them out for what they are -- creepy perverts, freaky busybodies and utter hypocrites.

What's the difference between a landlord who sneaks into your apartment to rifle through your underwear drawer and an AG who sues for your abortion records? The state health director keeping a spreadsheet of women’s periods isn’t any less creepy than the abusive ex who still tracks your location.
