If a Democrat running in *Kansas* can say this, folks like Turek truly have no excuse whatsoever
Kansas Dem Sen. nominee Adam Hamilton on trans rights: “I don’t think we should take a small group of people and bully them, pick on them, and hurt them. I understand one thing really clearly when it comes to transgender people, and that is Jesus told me I was to love my neighbor as I love myself”

I'm sorry but banning non-English speakers because machine translation is unclean is more fascist than anything in the AI space except maybe Palantir's XAI enterprise account
hooooo boy we don't like this no we don't > If you don't speak English, you need to find a different community. We cannot distinguish between AI-written and AI-translated. Since you don't speak English, you can't even verify yourself if it translated correctly. www.reddit.com/r/opensource...

Trying to make Farsight faster on handle look-ups, without having to ask plc.directory for everything, led me to design lodestar. With that, I managed to make handle look-ups significantly faster!

This is what happens when we start an internet-wide witch hunt. And it should also be noted that pangram is explicit that what it is using it to detect AI is not some deep underlying mechanistic feature of AI, but just writing style. So any style that AI overindexes on would also get lumped in.
It is really chilling to see how quickly Black, Caribbean, and African writers and academics have become the global face of AI use and accusations of plagiarism. For such a serious charge, @vauhinivara.bsky.social's article rests on...a Pangram scan. www.theatlantic.com/books/2026/1...

I'm going to say it. I don't care what race you are, or what religion you follow, or what minority you are from, or what your views on AI are. If you harass your own kind, kick them out and throw them to the street. You are part of the problem. You're becoming the very thing we are fighting, period.

I know this is distinct from the conversation this is actually about, but I think we need to give more credit to the fact that we can now more easily investigate when different social intermingling occured and the social power of that. This is one aspect of attie that needs more attention

To moderate well, you have to sit apart from the discourse to tend the cold fires of lawful neutral. You have to accept that you are alone. You need the backing to be resilient and not buckle under pressure. It's not going to happen for free, and anyone who says otherwise is selling something.

I wouldn't trust most/any labellers or lists to not revert to mean (personal beefs and Lowtax-brain). If I did trust them, I'd tell them to quit because moderating well as a volunteer takes a lot of time and makes a lot of enemies and no durable allies. You slip up once, and you're the scapegoat.
You cant farm out moderation to volunteers who you will not pay, and refuse to back up. There is zero incentive to moderate properly. You will get ideolouges, grifters and insane people (some complementary, most derogatory)

Willing to sell the commons to The Mouse because they are mad about robits
Was surprised to see so many left wing people articulating absolutist Intellectual Property positions that, if taken to their systematic conclusion in real life, leads to the "Disney is the eventual sole proprietary rights-holder to all extant human culture" future

A strange autistic trans woman has been teaching text elementals to build software, review each other's work, and operate the apps they make. The result is Peritus. It's open source. You can have it.
Peritus v0.0.7 is out today. Your coding agent can now operate browser pages and Linux desktop apps, using screenshots and persistent sessions to exercise what it builds using the real testing skill. MIT licensed. Come try it github.com/Corvidae-Cod...

And my second open spec: An ATProto lexicon for plural systems. Members, fronting, avatars, pronouns, colors, roles; all stored on your repository, no matter what PDS hosts it. No external service dependency. Designed with systems, for systems. Any client can adopt it. 🙂
Also incorporates this spec for pronoun representation for members of plural systems!
Made my first open spec. An ATProto lexicon for pronouns. Stored on your PDS as a real record, not reliant on labelers which can disappear for a variety of reasons. Multiple sets, neopronouns, and custom forms are all compatible. Any client can adopt it too! github.com/skydeval/atproto-pronouns

I shared this before reading too far in, because I knew it would be interesting; but having now read it through, I can report that it is in fact good and correct.
