Sorry man this guy’s gotta lose I don’t care who the fuck he’s running against. If these loudly anti-trans Dems don’t lose, it’s going to take us thirty years to get back the rights we’ve lost in the past five.

Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.

After Richard Stanley was fired from Island of Dr Moreau he went through makeup and spent the rest of the filming dressed as one of the animal people so he could watch the production implode without him, get paid, and smoke the other extras out in the woods

We all know the "Viggo broke his toe" story but what's another movie fact you're personally compelled to bring up every time without prompting? For me, it's the fact that Robin Tunney is wearing a wig in The Craft because of having just shaved her head to save her job filming Empire Records.

Dems don't need to win every toss up Senate race. Just saying.

"Were the ancient Egyptians furries" is one of those meme questions where the answer is obviously no, but there are a lot of interesting parallels between pharonic religious art and modern aspects of furry culture you can draw.

"So the guy called himself a king" *muffled gasps from the panel* "and he sent thousands of soldiers to quarter in my city" *Washington audibly whispers "what the f-"* "and so we, like, formed this system where we'd call up people within a minute or two if they showed up" Paul Revere: hell yes

Philip Bump@pbump.com

Even if this were viable as a concept (that there's an afterlife; that it allows conversations with others; that enslavers are going the same place as you), who cares? Oh, are you mad at me, Ben Franklin? Tough shit.

This! Our university is having a second consecutive year of cuts and layoffs, in a democratic supermajority state where there was zero interest in providing party funding for us even in comparison with the other state universities in Illinois. Research funding has cratered. The Democrats shrug.

Democrats have trifecta control of government in 16 states; but not one of them has done what Republicans in Iowa and Florida have done in pumping millions of dollars into the humanities. ballotpedia.org/State_govern...

Not for nothing but PBS does election night coverage and we work really really really hard on it. Union shop as well!

Oliver Darcy@oliverdarcy.bsky.social

Scoop from @brettlogiurato.bsky.social: CBS has sold its local election night coverage to DraftKings, stirring more controversy inside the David Ellison-owned company. Details in @status.news: www.status.news/p/cbs-draftk...

Some of BioWare's best work comes from people who wrote codex entries and npc barks. There's a goddamn reason my friends and I parrot the chant of light and other thedosian works back and forth to each other. Masterful shit.

Absolutely. And also banning the act of making the envelope look like something the government would send me.

Maybe it’s just me but I don’t think credit card companies or banks should be allowed to send you mail with shit like “TIME SENSITIVE DOCUMENT” or “CONFIDENTIAL” or anything that even remotely resembles that kind of language in an envelope that just includes an ad for their credit cards
