Guys whose whole thing is obsessing relentlessly over the righteousness of patriarchy and aLpHa masculinity are flexing and high-fiving over ... a one-rep deadlift max of 315lbs/143kgs.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Three years ago, my dad said that all fish are the same shape. Out of spite, I decided to draw all 478 families of bony fish listed in Nelson 2016. There's still some stuff I need to edit and some fish I want to redraw but, after 985 days, I finished my big dumb fish project last night.

i am on a plane sitting next to a lady who looks 40ish and has informed me that this is her first time flying she is visibly excited. she asked the flight attendant how much a soda costs and was happy to learn that drinks are free on airplanes. she's taking lots of pictures. i love this for her

It's October! This was based on an oil painting I did a while ago. The oil painting was better. I've never had luck basing a watercolor on an oil painting. I'm starting to prefer watercolor for abstract work and oil for representational work. Watercolor and ink on 5"x7" cold press paper

My doctoral students were so tired and burnt out tonight that after doing our round robin check in (I teach dissertation seminar, so pre proposal) I said okay well how about we all just go home, as long as you promise me to rest and not do any work for the rest of the night

In the Dr. Stranglove survival kit checklist scene, there's a really awkward dub where Maj Kong says "Shoot, a fella could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff." But in the original shot he says Dallas but this was cut because of the Kennedy assassination.

We all know the "Viggo broke his toe" story but what's another movie fact you're personally compelled to bring up every time without prompting? For me, it's the fact that Robin Tunney is wearing a wig in The Craft because of having just shaved her head to save her job filming Empire Records.

even before he died I didn’t have a relationship with my dad, and removing my mom from my life has been the best thing for my adult mental health. you really don’t have to put up with emotionally vampiric boomers, I promise.

It's October! I tried a combination of watercolor and ink (black and red) on this one. I think mixed results, but I didn't start off with a solid plan to begin with, and that just happens sometimes when you go with the flow. Watercolor and ink on 5"x7" cold press paper
