Being able to decide "guess we'll just let Aaron Ashby pitch until we win" is both a flex and somehow a perfectly reasonable decision on the merits.

For the fabulously wealthy, paying taxes is pretty much optional. They can borrow against their vast wealth, which is mostly an untaxed capital gain, without paying taxes. When they die, the capital gain goes to zero. And loopholes exist to bypass the estate tax too.

Samuel Alito: We won't overturn Obergefell because it's engendered reliance interests. Jan Crawford: Well, many people had organized their lives around Roe v. Wade. Alito: No, they didn't. Women merely had an "abstract" interest in "ideas about the kind of society that they were going to live in."

KARL: Do you support Trump banning news organizations because he doesn't like what they're reporting? SCALISE: Look, Biden removed the press credentials from 400 agencies KARL: That's not true. 400 reporters who had credentials didn't reapply. They weren't banned from the WH. That did not happen.

There is also the uncomfortable fact that the national debt passed a record $40 trillion yesterday, much sooner than expected. The U.S. is currently spending more than a trillion dollars a year to pay interest on the national debt, more than it spends on defense.

Any president sending bulldozers to rip through our national parks is committing an unforgivable crime against our country's heritage. Trump & his GOP enablers are perfectly happy to permanently destroy America’s pristine landscapes just to build monuments to their own hate & political theater.

Bulldozers sent by Trump have begun tearing up Big Bend National Park to build a border wall through the protected public land. The Trump administration waived dozens of environmental laws to permit the construction.

Issue for Rs is stocks have been soaring under Trump - corporations and the wealthy got a fresh round of tax cuts, many getting massive refunds after scotus nuked his global tariff regime, regulations nixed - but consumers / voters very unhappy. K-shaped $ -> K-shaped politics

The overwhelming right wing sentiment is that COVID was an engineered bioweapon that was also harmless. Trump overreacted to it by shutting down the country, then engineered a drive to create a vaccine that was the real bioweapon that killed millions, and it's Joe Biden's fault.

The vibes may be exciting, but if Democrats are going to win this year and in 2028, they must reject the DSA. If you’re tempted by a democratic socialist this year, think of what use Republicans will make of these victories, and ask whether you want to do favors for fascists.

nobody is giving fox news more headlines about how democrats can't win general elections than moderate candidates and their supporters in the media

G Elliott Morris@gelliottmorris.com

What 'moderation' really means is adopting the views of a very small group of loud, centrist writers and their big business backers, and is increasingly out of step with (a) the big problems in the US and (b) the polling on what Americans say are the biggest problems they want government to fix.

The US built the greatest talent magnet ever, attracting the smart, skilled, and striving. They’d come to study, then stay and build things here, or leave with positive impressions and fruitful connections. Helped make the US wealthy and powerful. Then America chose to throw it away. And for what?

As much as you hate the corporate media, you can never hate them as much as they apparently hate themselves. This is a level of willing self-abasement and abject humiliation that the world hasn't seen since Renfeld.

Trump is scheduled to deliver his pack of lies about the 2020 election on Thursday. Eight days later, the White House Correspondents' Association plans to welcome him as an honored guest at its dinner. It's not too late to cancel the damn dinner and stop being quislings in service to a dictator.

I'll summarize this: Mamdani asked NYers to keep air conditioning at 78 degrees. A wave criticism hit online. A MSNBC broadcast pointed out the US Department of Energy recommends that 78 degree figure. Immediately after, the US Department of Energy deleted 6,000 web pages related to energy saving.

This birthright ruling is why I just refuse to tolerate all the Democrat garment rending over NY voters choosing progressive candidates. They are incapable of governing in this moment. The politics of appeasement and centrism gets us to a 5-4 decision on the constitutional question.
