Yo - semi-retired zinester and minicomics maker, now a dad and comics fan always looking for a little more drawing time on the side. Illustrator/graphic designer by day. He/him.
Was thrilled to stop by @kneelbeforeblog.co.uk to chat about “Iron Man 2” as part of their “Road to Doomsday” series.
It’s a really fascinating, dysfunctional film that has a host of interesting ideas, but no idea how to resolve them.

"Nothing of this scale has been seen in the United States, experts say, since the federal government’s counterinsurgency against the New Left and the anti-war movement in the 1960s and 1970s."
Incredible reporting here from @awinston.bsky.socialwww.wired.com/story/ice-is...
This has perhaps the highest ratio of quality of writing to complete lack of any reason this writing should exist that I’ve ever seen. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/25/o...
Some quick busride home thoughts on #Clayface.
Which is a perfectly serviceable film that is perhaps condemned by virtue of the far more interesting fingerprints you can see in the clay.

This week, at @secondwindgroup.com, @janjozone.bsky.social and I take a look at #Lanterns.
A show about rings, and cycles, in more ways than one.

No, but really, outsourcing our own moral discernment to the talking word toaster is not reasonable or ultimately positive for humans so it’s okay.
It is a machine. There’s no mortality to it being used as a machine. You don’t remote lock a guy for cussing out his tractor. What are we doing here?
Norway plans to introduce a law to parliament that would temporarily ban the tech at places such as parks, beaches, schools, and kindergartens, while also setting up an expert group to propose permanent national rules: arstechnica.visitlink.me/5Agx05
MACBETH: I bear a charmèd life, which must not yield
To one of woman born.
MACDUFF: Despair thy charm,
And let the angel whom thou still hast served
Tell thee Macduff was from his mother’s womb
Untimely ripped.
MACBETH: Fuck.
we have a generation of trickle down economics we can look at now, it should just be accepted truth at this point that it doesnt work and the people who implemented it should never work in politics or the financial sector ever again
i think the political ideology that gave us the iraq war and the great recession and brexit and trump and the iran war has been thoroughly discredited at this point
"Iran has imposed a strategic defeat on America without a single Iranian soldier firing a rifle. Hegseth obsessing over soldiers’ physical fitness in 2026 is like a European general fixating on his troops’ horsemanship in 1940."
I'll add some nuance here — most local pushback against data centers is actually quite fluent, and not grounded in the more wild-eyed rhetoric you see on social media. Very often, the core premise is a simple, correct one: you can't trust what Big Tech says in its promises to a local community.
It’s a popular revolt against the tech oligarchs, not about data centers per se.
Yes, streaming sites also use data centers.
Yes, data centers don’t actually use up a lot of drinking water.
Accuracy is good for its own sake. But still, right or wrong about data centers themselves isn’t the point.
Massive AI infrastructure is being built out across the US, and it’s probably coming for your state.
There’s one place where the data center occupation already arrived – 20 years ago.
So if you want to know what it will look like...

Floored by the reception to yesterday’s Vergecast. @davidimel.com and @vicmsong.bsky.social were inspired by @lopatto.bsky.social’s amazing piece to have a conversation about what it means to be human and give a shit (my words). Edited beautifully by producer Josh Cajas.
