I’m going to point out how many people I’ve seen in the last year say that we don’t need to worry about 2028, that a corrupt federal government can’t corrupt state-run elections. You’re wrong and it may be fatal to our democracy if you keep being wrong.
WaPo reports Louisiana’s governor will announce on Friday that he is suspending the House primaries where people have already started voting and redraw the map; I’d expect them to go for an all-Republican map and eliminate both majority-Black districts, not just one.

lol House Republican leadership just cancelled all votes for the day
House Republicans adjourned last night without agreement on a rule, tried to bring the Rules Committee back this morning to figure out a way forward, failed, and are now totally adrift. Budget resolution, FISA, Farm Bill all up in the air. Love working in the U.S. House of Representatives

I've studied so many concentration camps through history that held vulnerable people in just this kind of crowded squalor. You demonize people, you demand more arrests, this is what you get. It already has its own budget and its own momentum, and is on track to go much further, unless we stop it.
“'I’ve never experienced anything like this in my entire life,' the congresswoman said, fighting back tears. "She described the way people were laying down inside as “like sardines.” “'It is frightening in there,' she said. 'It is disgusting'..." azmirror.com/2026/04/10/i...

You know what’s a really good way to learn to brainstorm, bounce ideas? Read more. No joke, read more. Keep a commonplace book next to you and write down whatever the fuck comes to mind Mind map it. Let the thoughts float in a nebulous cloud above your head. Your brain will pin them down eventually
I've seen people trying to defend it today by saying "No, no, I just use it to brainstorm, bounce ideas, I do the actual writing" and with all the kindness in the world I need to tell you: if there is a stage of writing you are not good at, you need to get good, not use the plagiarism machine.

Can't overstate how dangerous and depressing it is that there's a cottage industry of shameless charlatans who see it as their mission to validate every id-driven obsession, grudge-fueled preoccupation, and long-held bigotry of the racist, senile old grifter we put in the White House.
Barnett: "Wurman of the University of Minnesota has shown that the common-law materials are more complicated. The older cases and treatises turned not simply on place of birth, but on protection, allegiance and the sovereign’s acceptance of the parents’ presence." Bull. www.wsj.com/opinion/trum...

I hope that people on here can conjure as much energy for the fact that Israel has 'legalized' arbitrary military 'court' death sentences for stone-throwing Palestinian children as they can for indignation at hearing the words "Free Palestine." I truly do.

As the parent of transgender child, I can testify that the standard of care was EXTREMELY CONSERVATIVE even before the recent moral panic. I cannot stress this enough. EXTREMELY CONSERVATIVE. Anyone who says otherwise is completely uninformed or blatantly lying. Period.
In reality, the medical field is extremely conservative. Every medical body recommends thorough assessment for minors and practitioners have moved slowly and carefully as they gather evidence on this emerging field.

So long as the center left acts as if Israel has an a priori right to oppress religious and ethnic minorities, people like Tucker Carlson will continue to find a fertile audience. If mainstream sources refuse to call this war what it is, people will go to alternative sources—including extreme ones.

Hard to see why the Minnesota ICE watching community booted this guy, he’s a 190 IQ genius.
“Track AIPAC” isn’t “watchdog journalism,” it’s a sleazy antisemitic smear operation that intentionally conflates anyone who donates to any Israel-related group with AIPAC itself. And even then it’s inconsistent, labeling Jewish candidates as AIPAC while non-Jewish candidates get a green light.

usually Starbucks puts a fig-leaf over their union-busting, but closing some of the busiest and highest revenue stores in Seattle AND telling the workers they can’t transfer to other stores says they’ve given up even aspiring to plausible deniability
BREAKING: Starbucks is closing stores (non-union & union) in Seattle. They told the public they would look to transfer impacted baristas to other stores... but they’re doing the exact opposite. Now, workers across Seattle are walking out on ULP strike in solidarity! Do the right thing, Starbucks!

Time to repeat these kinds of numbers relentlessly - and have a broader discussion of what the whole $1 trillion defense budget could pay for.
The war in Iran has already cost $22.8 billion. For $22.8 billion, we could: • Provide Medicaid to 6.8 million kids • Build 2.6 million public housing units • Fund Head Start for 1.3 million • Hire 240,000 teachers • Cancel $20,000 in student debt for 1 million borrowers

as Trump reportedly considers sending ground troops in to open the straight of hormuz, it's worth remembering how much extra, unnecessary danger it puts US troops in to preemptively declare "we will murder soldiers who surrender to us" (which is what "no quarter" means)
Hegseth: "We will keep pushing, keep advancing. No quarter, no mercy for our enemies." No quarter is the refusal to take prisoners and instead just execute everyone. It's been considered a war crime for over a century.
