i find it incredibly difficult to talk about my editing work, because everything i've done here is on a foundation that was fantastic before i touched it. but still, i'm very, very proud of what i put into this game. i hope you love the fingerprints i left without ever recognising them.

A quick note for the people reading my EA story and thinking 'well, if it's so bad, why don't they leave?' Simply, there is nowhere to go. There is dearth of jobs right now across the game industry—just relentless cuts across the board—and people cannot just uproot their lives on a whim.

Putting it out to the universe that I'd love to consult on more games, in any capacity. By the end of this year, I *should* be in the credits of three games - and that should then continue next year. And I'm also developing a better eye for the dev side of things. A lot of knowledge I'd love to use.

seeing Latinos in media did and continues to mean a lot to me but you know what means more? Seeing my people in my field, more senior and junior and contemporary to me. I will not settle for diverse toys.

Hi again to the new followers, particularly the ones finding me after having been touched by BioWare games. I was there from 2005-2013, and I am the less-famous other half of Jennifer Brandes Hepler. I worked on ME, she worked on DA, we both helped out SW:TOR. So... what've I done since? (Thread)

Obviously grim. Beyond the horror of needing an LLM to describe your own daughter, there’s this weird thing where it says “the teacher wanted” those three bullet points. No. The teacher doesn’t want those bullet points. The teacher wanted her mother’s perspective. Which she no longer maintains.

David Gura@davidgura.bsky.social

cool, cool

And to be clear, I don’t intend this to be a comment about parenting in particular. More about a pattern I see all the time with LLM and AI stuff in educational settings. When teachers ask for things of students or parents, they aren’t actually asking for answers. They’re asking for your attempt.

And if you skip the attempt because you think you got them the right answer, you genuinely may as well not engage the educational system at all, because you sure as hell aren’t engaging it’s your own.

I worked until 11p tonight. Left the office, got Taco Bell, and am now vegging with one of those retro 90s kids commercials YouTube channels playing. I feel like I’m hallucnating. The production values on these commercials are insane.

Guzman’s later film, Nostalgia for the Light, remains one of the most stunning film experiences I’ve ever had. I missed the news that he had passed - an incredible talent.

I feel insane seeing stuff like this about Watson out in the wild. Setting aside *waves hands around* literally everything…he’s been below average at best!

I’ve always felt that Cabin in the Woods was more successful at provoking a sense of catharsis than it was at satirizing the genre. It’s less interested in criticizing audience delight in violent misogyny and more interested in staging a revenge metaspectacle built on that delight.

okay, i rewatched and wrote about the cabin in the woods on flesh and fluids, complicity and consequence, and the catharsis of That One Scene it is illegal to say what i want to happen to fascists and/or those 'just doing their jobs' ashlikeadragon.bearblog.dev/let-monsters...
