cool new atproto automation idea: make a program that attaches to a heart monitor and if it detects your heart stops a post is automatically posted onto the bluesky network announcing your death and next of kin

This is technically true… which is why I think we need: - more than one [app.bsky] AppView - people actually using the other AppViews - clearer guidelines from Bluesky PBC on in what circumstances they can ban self-hosted accounts on the Relay / AppView / mod service level

Kit Lotor@kitra.cc

the state of bluesky is weird. i can't *technically* be banned since i'm on a separate PDS, but the centralized relay that picks up bluesky posts could just refuse to pick up posts from my PDS, meaning I might as well be banned at that point since nothing I do would show up

Was looking at old projects, and saw this just sitting there for multiple years now, untouched. Wish I had the funding to work on it fulltime.

Remember if you're working as a developer making any sort of social media management app, you're in an enormous and growing sector of media in general. Working on #atprotocol projects has meaningful, tangible potential. www.fortunebusinessinsights.com/industry-rep...

🦋 WELCOME TO BLUESKY! I recommend exploring our custom feeds, which are a little like hashtags but more interesting. We have them for academic and professional subjects, sports, cities, hobbies (e.g., gardening, baking), and many more. Search them in the sidebar under Feeds. 🧵

Holy shit I love the debugging feature in @graze.social, it’s so useful for checking if the posts I am trying to make sure come up in the feed do. Especially for the language part as I’m building a Russian speaking feed it’s important to check the tag and also use the language compare node 10/10

I have a brilliant plan, all I need is: - the copyright to everything - all the money in the world

Ed Zitron@edzitron.com

Yeah I need way more money than anyone ever got before. I need it because my shit is difficult right now. But it's important in ways even I haven't been able to work out. Really looking forward to the improved moderation nodes being implemented in @graze.social that would be able to utilize existing atproto functionality like moderation and block lists (In my head it could look something like the People in the List node takes an input of a url for a normal list)

Yeah so Graze is awesome, they even are trying a business model that would offer as much possible value to users as possible while still thinking about business sustainability which is just incredible

Plenty of folks have asked "how much am I going to have to spend to use Graze?" Today, we're sharing the answer: Zero. In fact, we'll pay *you*. Read below for a bit about how we plan to build a new, better market for sponsored content together.

it's kinda sad that digital work is so hidden like there's no messy study room or bookshelves full of works you've read or letters from people and gizmos and widgets you've built or stacks of drawings and diagrams it's all just, hidden in folders, already lost in space, and eventually lost to time

It's kind of a catch 22… without a somewhat centralized moderation, there will be trolls, scams, impersonation, the site will not grow or people will start leaving. But also with good moderation, outside teams have less motivation to build a more decentralized version as designed…

🆕 We've introduced a new, simple, powerful way to play videos in apps. It's called expo-video. expo-video is replacing the now out-dated Video component of expo-av, and soon expo-audio will replace the Audio component of expo-av, making it fully deprecated. expo.dev/blog/expo-vi...

Dear #atproto devs I love you but we sometimes the docs are a complicated mess for us normie web devs. So as a proud web dev I decided to make a guide in simple words on how to Implement ATProto OAuth ATProto OAuth Quickstart Guide whtwnd.com/typonomy.bsk...

I would appreciate any and all feedback regarding this, especially if I got something wrong as I am relatively new to atproto development Also a massive thank you to @breijen.com for explaining some things to me, especially with local dev part. Hopefully some people find it useful, happy Saturday

An actual idea on how to make atproto more private for those that need it. Imagine being actually constructive instead of harassing researchers. Don’t know if that’s what bsky devs are cooking but they are most likely working on some form of data privacy/encryption for #atproto

People are complaining about "everything can be used" because @bsky.app is using the open #atproto. Okay. How about encrypted messages which can be only decrypted when the reader has the key 🤔 The system can stay open but messages can be private 🤔 300 chars would be enough or (1/2)

What the actual fuck is wrong with people. Like yeah we might have a data scraping issue and the response right now is to just ban people for the sake of it. The actual solution to it will come from Bluesky itself and not some asshole who wants to feel important

OK!! Looks like we have a fun challenge for the DWeb, local-first, crypto/CRDT crowd. What does a resilient subnet of ATproto look like? * offline/netsplitted/chunked bulk updates of the firehose * are there ways to use Tor or IPFS or other transports for local secure data xfer? shorturl.at/6PnlA

Ok #atproto devs: we’ve got a live one here. This is a USER with NEEDS. Since we’ve got an open protocol, who can build some (historical) charts of posts / likes / quotes etc for the @cpsc.gov account.

Team, let's say you are one of these so called "managers" and you are interested in exporting/tracking your engagement data in a simple way. Something that lets you put together some good charts with lines that go up and such. What's a good way to do that?
