I haven't had such a great time watching linguistics singing and dancing since last year's "I put the glamour/back into grammar" video
This is a thoroughly delightful video from some linguists in Finland marrying Finnish etymology with Finnish folk dancing and even if you know nothing about any of these things their enthusiasm is contagious (and it has English subtitles) youtu.be/0FoOuV76vKA?...

Featured this in the README of nob.h: github.com/tsoding/nob....
After getting annoyed at slow Gradle builds one too many timed, I finally did a nob.h imitation from @tsoding.bsky.social Its easier to read then Gradle, 100% self-contained and faster. I compile and bundle my web-app in 1.3 sec while Gradle needs 1.6 for hello world... gitlab.com/NikaDev/arris

Hey. The fragmentation of the social media landscape has been hard on indie #scicomm 🧪 projects So if you'd like to follow a podcast that's enthusiastic about #linguistics, could you check out @lingthusiasm.bsky.social? And if you think your followers might like to, could you give this a repost?

JetBrains just merged my contribution to the Kotlin standard library. It's a rewrite of String.toFloatOrNull() to eliminate all allocations (~940 per call!) and go 225x faster on a Pixel 6. If you want to see how it was done: github.com/JetBrains/ko... tl;dr regex out, hand-written parser in

Here is the Stream Recording where we implemented the compilation to GLSL www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaG4...
If you introduce a third variable t which just oscillates over time, add it to the generation process along with x and y, then compile the AST down to a GLSL shader you can generate cool videos like these.
