What is the BBC's justification for maintaining this level of coverage of Reform now it has slipped into third place?

Alex Andreou@sturdyalex.bsky.social

BBC News just interrupted its coverage to go, live, to Nigel Farage - a man with no contitutional standing in our setup - responding to the budget - a document which nobody has seen yet. WHY

🧵 As front-page headlines go, this has to be one of the most misleading I've seen in a long time It's an out-and-out lie But notice the trick they use to get away with it...👀 *They're* not lying - they're just quoting someone else who is👍🏻 In this case, the leader of the opposition🙄 1/33

If you've got a child calling for people to drown I'd suggest that might be a matter for social services. Clearly that child has been radicalised

Who else finds it infuriating to stand for minutes at the self-checkout in #Morrisons waiting for the one lethargic staff member to wander over so you can ask for a plastic (or paper) bag. Such an absurd system.

Given her support and love for and to the trans community I felt it was a poor choice for the BBC News to quote Rowling’s tribute to Dolly Parton.

One of the first "outrageous" claims I saw as Jason Arday's media hounding unfolded was that he ran 30 marathons in 35 days! Wow! What a thing to claim! And the newspapers all suggested there was no evidence he actually did it. Well, they clearly didn't look very hard 🙄 🧵 1/26

This is not misinformation. That's what I normally cover - something out of context, an opinion quoted as fact, or a deliberate misinterpretation... This is none of those. This is full-on disinformation. Because that is NOT from the Express. It is entirely fake😱 🧵 1/10

I don’t pretend to understand British politics, but apparently this Count Binface guy was a joke candidate for Parliament who got beat by another joke candidate. Do I have that right?

Do you want to hazard a guess at what this “jaw-dropping” list of freebies included? What luxuries asylum seekers might be being given “for free” in Thetford? Xboxes? Plasma TVs? iPhones? Ferraris? Let's take a look👀 🧵 1/22

Over my years, several people I know (who I guess weren’t big fans of maths) have questioned the point of learning Pythagoras’ theorem at school, so I’d like to to put on record that I’ve just used it for a very practical purpose that also involves cardboard and scissors! #maths #math #Pythagoras

@carrot-app.bsky.social I think ChatGPT just stumbled on a feature request. Was asking about the orbits of the ISS, when it said this: “If you use NASA’s Spot the Station service or an app like CARROT Weather (which I know you use), you’ll notice the predictions naturally arrive in these clusters.”

Under a Binface government, anyone who doesn’t accept human-made climate change as fact will be sent back to school, from Year 1 right the way to A Levels, to see if anything goes in the second time round. #VoteBinface

Farage’s narcissism has handed Clacton a once in a century chance to make history: A chance to establish itself as a beacon of British good sense, humour and democracy by electing Count Binface. The World and his wife know who Farage is. Clacton voters will be derided forever if they reelect Farage.

There are actually a number of things to like here, but number 5 should absolutely be implemented ( @andyburnham.bsky.social )

Here it is. My manifesto for the 2026 Clacton By-Election. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Join me, clean up Clacton and let's make 13th August Bin Day! #VoteBinface #VoteyMcVoteface #YesWeTinCan

The bizarre thing about this Clacton election is that it is highly likely that the lives of the people of Clacton would improve if @countbinface.bsky.social was returned. I genuinely believe that he would be a far more effective MP than the guy that resigned to avoid scrutiny.

@andyburnham.bsky.social There are many important things on your plate but the fact that the richest man on the planet behaves in this way is a direct threat to world democracy. More focus is needed to prevent what he is trying to achieve.

God@thegodshow.com

Thou shalt not let the richest man on Earth tell his 250 million followers to murder journalists. Thou shalt lock him up for inciting violence.

Cynical, scheming, boring and then - finally, inevitably - violent. Properly shameful operation which shouldn't be whitewashed by being called 'streetwise'.

Unsurprisingly, a number of people asked me to look at this story doing the rounds on all the right-wing media 🧐 So let's take a look at who is exempt from the ban and why, and when this "two-tier" situation came about (spoiler - it's nothing new!) 1/20

ALERT! ALERT! ALERT! Please tell your friends, your family and everyone you know to follow this account. I'm doing something amazing, incredible and epic for you. Remember when I did the ISS alerts? They are returning, but a thousand times better and more! Something all of you will love.

Widdicombe murder; Police have stated there is no evidence of political motivation and other than that they are saying nothing. So how does Farage know it was 'premeditated'? Either he's being fed information by the Police which would be illegal or... He's talking out of his arse as usual.

Pretty disingenuous of the journalists interviewing Bellingham last night to confront him with statements about the manager being critical while providing only half the context. Tuchel praised their mentality unreservedly while also saying he wants more in terms of skilful play in the detail.

So, yes, he expressed disappointment with that aspect, as England will need to play better to win the tournament, but ‘doorstepping’ Bellingham with only half the story like that was devious and was disrespectful to player, manager and team.
