I’ve been pretty quiet on the socials lately, mostly because I’m heads down on some Secret But Super Cool Stuff. BUT I’ve been doing a podcast where I interview the most interesting people at the intersection of Kubernetes and AI. Here’s the latest, with the mighty @boredabdel.bsky.social 🎙️

Buoyant@buoyant.io

New AI Kubernetes Show: @boredabdel.bsky.social (Google, KubeCon co-chair) covers what LLM inference on Kubernetes actually requires, from routing to autoscaling to agentic security www.buoyant.io/ai-kubernete...

"The forest ended. Glad I was To feel the light, and hear the hum Of bees, and smell the drying grass And the sweet mint." Remembering the poet Edward Thomas, who was killed in action on this day in 1917 in The Battle of Arras.

Thanks for always having concrete talks and contributing to the Rust ecosystem along with shipping a functional piece of software with valuable design intent :) Discovered Linkerd at the KCCNC EU 2018 in Copenhagen, loved the talks of you folks, and coming back for more at every KCCNC!

Great writeup of my #kubecon Linkerd talk just now from @horgix.fr !

Always love some Buoyant talk on Linkerd at #KubeCon #CloudNativeCon - though I missed the one by Flynn at the colocated events. So here I am listening to @williammorgan.me sharing new "And I'm gonna talk about AI because i basically have to in order to be there" damn, that's a sad reality

signs left at alex pretti’s memorial in minneapolis: “i love you so much / i’ll miss you forever” photo with a friend, “i would have done the same. RIP alex,” a stethoscope and “we’ll take it from here, alex” and a tshirt for the minnesota nurses association

En route to Kubecon. No talks to give this time (a first for many years) but I somehow seem to have a jam-packed schedule despite that. Looking forward to catching up with customers and friends alike!

You gently run your hand through the rack. You can feel it—pure cotton, rich wool, Irish linen. The plump buttonholes are handsewn; the buttons attached with a firm shank. You flip the price tag over. It's affordable You buy the jacket and go home, which is only 15 mins away. Your apt is $600/month

Don’t believe anyone who tells you that intelligence shows anything “without a doubt,” but even if the intelligence was water-tight, this strike was still murder. No law permits the deliberate, premeditated killing of civilians.

“You cannot plan with America... You can’t even talk with it, because today and tomorrow and the next day it will only ever be having the same conversation: Whatever a sundowning and already world-historically stupid fascist said to evade accountability for whatever recent crime he was asked about”

It took Trump 60 minutes to murmur out a wet "that's all, folks!" before the UN Tuesday. Given that he was talking to himself and no one outside the greater Trumpiverse can hear him, it's the only thing he could say.

Aside from how utterly deranged it is to even make light of this, he's not mocking some reporter or pundit by calling him "General." Ben Hodges is a real three-star general, he was the commander of the US Army in Europe before he retired. In other words, he's worked with a lot of Germans soldiers.

SCOOP — Part of the reason Disney/ABC may have rushed to sort things out with Kimmel is because tomorrow they have a planned price increase for Disney+ streaming, a Disney source tells me. With subscriptions hemorrhaging since last week, they couldn’t risk losing more users with this announcement.

A fun fact about McCarthyism is that just two and a half years after he was condemned and censured, Sen. Joseph McCarthy drank himself to death at 48. Fevers break. Petty tyrants fall. Censorship and persecution drive good people to stand together and fight back.

Apropos of nothing in particular, here's Walt Disney's testimony to HUAC in 1947, where he named employees he believed were communists, condemned labor unions, and accused "commie" groups, including the League of Women Voters, of smearing him. 🗃️ archive.org/details/walt...

Capricious, senseless, needless. The cruelest possible implementation of the stupidest possible idea. Weakens the economy. Weakens the country. Overturned, inevitably, but the damage to the US tech ecosystem is already done.

I am just going to keep posting that the TX governor recently pardoned a political murderer. The dude texted "I'm going to shoot protestors", then went and shot a Black Lives Matter protester. He was convicted in a jury trial. Hard to find a more blatant example of celebrating political violence.

texastribune.orgGov. Greg Abbott pardons Daniel Perry, veteran who killed police brutality protester in 2020A Travis County jury sentenced Perry to 25 years in prison last year, prompting Abbott to ask the state parole board to review his case.

We are at the point in the honoring-Charlie-Kirk's-memory cycle when faculty are being fired for posting, without comment, Charlie Kirk's words. At the behest of politicians sworn to uphold the first amendment, and in public institutions covered by first amendment protections.

The forced Gemini + Gmail integration is made actively worse by doing the thing I don't want (summarize) and NOT doing the thing I actively DO want, which it's perfectly capable of doing: flagging what is obviously a phishing email.

News from Finland. A 9-year-old lost an especially good stick he’d had since he was 2. He hung up 20 posters. A few days later it was returned. It had been found by a 2-year-old, who wanted to keep it for herself, but her mother made her return it. She got toys, flowers and candy as a reward.
