If you watch the Obama Library, the World Cup, and the Knicks parade this afternoon -- and nothing else -- you can actually see the America we're supposed to be at age 250

A failed op-ed writer bankrolled by billionaires purging a universally liked and credible straight news journalist from 60 Minutes really has to be the height of the complete slide of American news media into a complete death spiral.

I was thinking about checking this out anyway, but that factoid is an all-time “did you know?” selling point.

important to point out the creator and showrunner of this is the babadook from the "adults drinking wine vibe" meme

It’s inaccurate to say Mario is brave and Luigi is cowardly Luigi is afraid of death, so he runs away from danger. Mario is afraid of living, so he runs towards death. Both brothers are cowards in their own way

just so we're all super clear on what the threat was, what france actually did was send goons to break into the pope's house and beat him to death and then replaced him with a series of popes they liked better, who lived basically in captivity in france

Both of Marco Rubio’s parents were born in Cuba. Marco Rubio was born in Miami in 1971, before they became US citizens. He is a US citizen because he was born in the US under birthright citizenship. #Hypocrites

One of the greatest ever? Absolutely. But it’s still not even the best Public Enemy album. That goes to “It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back.” @chuckdpe.bsky.social & Co. changed my life with that one and it still hits just as hard as ever.

We saw Josh last night sharing some new material and it made my wife want to go back and watch his last special for the first time. Highly recommend you do the same!

My new standup special Positive Reinforcement premieres TONIGHT at 8pm eastern time on Blonde Medicine’s YouTube channel. I’m really proud of this hour and grateful to all the people who helped make the special happen. Watch here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAvN...

history teacher in 50 years: So in September, that’s when the president signed an executive order criminalizing anti-fascism and saying all resistance would be crushed student: oh so that’s when the whole country realized they were living under fascism teacher: haha what? oh no lol not at all. no.

Criiiiiipes, the back-to-back-to-back gauntlet rooms getting to the Heart of Might boss in Silksong’s Act 3 are absolutely brutal. They make the High Halls gauntlet look like a picnic. This might be the thing that finally ends it for me…

One Battle After Another and Sinners both lay out a formula for cinema success: diverse movies where white nationalists get duffed in the most graphic way possible shot and presented in increasingly baroque high resolution formats.

This is a really excellent article by @papapishu.bsky.social, both about Silksong as a game and about the nature of how players endure and embrace punishment (though I consider myself a “game sicko” because I’m a “game pervert” who is also driven by getting achievements in punishing games).

Chris Person@papapishu.bsky.social

I love Silksong a lot. But it's full of stuff that bugs me. I wrote about punishing games, the nature of being a "game pervert" and how personal friction can be for @aftermath.site aftermath.site/silksong-pro...

Are you or someone you know skipping GDC (or considering doing so) because of worries about coming to the US/San Francisco in the current environment? If so, I want to hear from you for a piece. DM me here or kyle DOT orland AT arstechnica DOT com. Please spread the word

The First Sinner might be my favorite Silksong boss yet. Varied moveset that never felt cheap, beautiful aesthetic, and, best of all, no runback after a loss. Got better and better every battle until I finally beat her while barely getting hit.

Tamoor and Jason know what’s up. Great advice for any Soulslike, including Silksong.

Tamoor Hussain@tamoorh.com

In pretty much every Souls boss I fight I have a rule where I try not to attack while staying alive for as long as possible. Doing that a few times is a good way to quickly learn a fight. Highly recommend this approach.

I’m about 10 hours into Silksong and loving it so far. Haven’t had any trouble with bosses or areas but gotDAMN the bird room in Greymoor is driving me absolutely nuts. The movement on those little bastards…

I loved this movie and I love this essay. Once again, @priscillapage.bsky.social does a bang-up job of breaking down and analyzing a movie in a way that makes you appreciate it more AND makes you want to rewatch it as soon as possible (which I am now considering doing tonight with Tenet).

priscilla page@priscillapage.bsky.social

in honor of the film's 5th anniversary, I thought I'd share this piece I wrote about Tenet last year

Bare minimum for holding a conversation: Bobson Dugnutt, Sleve McDichael, Raul Chamgerlain, Dwigt Rortugal, Anatoli Smorin, Tony Smehrik, Darryl Archideld, Todd Bonzalez, and Onson Sweemey.

going to go out on a limb and imagine this guy's not actually very good at conversations

Rewatched terminator 2 last night. Fun movie about AI leading to nuclear war and how the easiest way to kill someone is to dress up like a cop. Can't say its themes resonate today.

Thanks to the Xbox Wire team for letting me write some more Nightreign stuff for them. And thanks to @rubes.bsky.social and @steinekin.bsky.social for all the smashin’ and shootin’, respectively.
