Since it's Halloween season, I found myself thiking about how Japanese myths and legends have like 100 different varieties of vampire but basically no Western-style werewolves. So I looked into it. Then I pitched the idea to Tokyo Weekender. Then I wrote this: www.tokyoweekender.com/art_and_cult...

tokyoweekender.comWhy Doesn’t Japanese Mythology Have Werewolves?A look into the history of wolves in Japan and why the traditional myth of the werewolf doesn't really exist in Japanese culture.

Nothing can be done without accountability. Nothing. There were no consequences for the war on terror’s transgressions and look where that got us. There were no real consequences for an armed attempted overthrow of the government and look where that got us.

Kamala Harris: I think that going in the direction of impeachment is not a good idea. I was in the Senate for the last go-round, and the votes aren’t there. I think after the election, we all have to just also agree that our attitude has to be to get stuff done…

It's ace week!!! Kembral Thorne, the hero of my Echo Archives series, is a biromantic asexual (like me!), which is super important to me but can get lost in book descriptions with everything else going on (Tired mom MC! Sapphic romance! Time loops! Layered worlds! Murder! Swordfights in ballgowns!)

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

Having a new, effectively Sci-Fi Channel era MST3K feels weird. Not bad weird. Weird like I might go into the next room and find out it’s still the 90s and Trump is just a punchline donating to the Clintons. Bobby in the shower stuff.

Tearstone on replays, once the consequences are understood.

#daOCqotd How's everyone doing 24 hours later? (no, that's not the qotd, not really, but you can answer it too. group hug, anyone?) Do you remember which choice was the hardest for you, the player, to make? Something you spent a long time deciding?

It's convenient for the child rapists who now run EA to claim Veilguard was a massive flop because what they want to do already is eliminate any part of EA that isn't a gambling and sportswashing operation. You don't have to fucking help them.

Very heavy news as our former studio, BioWare closes its doors today. It was a formative place for many. However, many former BioWare devs are scattered around the industry. Find them, support them. Like, follow, comment and help us prove there is still support for the types of games we make!

I've mentioned before I've updated my contracts to make sure everything in the production of my books is done by humans and not "AI"; if you're wondering what such a thing looks like, here's a clause covering that from a recent contract.

You're either a "sometimes a semi-colon is the only thing will do" person or a " I will put a blowtorch to all semi-colons on sight" person. I belong to the first category, but I will not fight people in the second. I believe we can co-exist, separated only by an ocean many thousands of miles wide.

An important thing to note in this period of fascism is that fascists are historically not good at government. Their entire shtick is "oh yeah? Well that's so-and-so's fault." Actual governance requires you to have a solution that is not "well let's fuck those marginalized guys up."
