i am inviting anyone from a legacy media organization to explain to me why the house judiciary dems report on trump’s epstein’s ties and multiple allegations of rape isn’t worthy of extensively reporting on. i’m serious. i want to understand.

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

We won not only against Bolsonaro, but against the full force of the USian's Big Techs, Meta, CIA, Trump, the Brazilian right-wing elites, the billionaires' press and more.

Congrats to Lula on overcoming Mark Zuckerberg and Donald Trump to defeat Hospital Pervert Jr., even as his opposition literally blocked off roads and turned off bus service during election day. Fascists are scary but they are always, 100% of the time, ultimately gigantic fucking losers.

Like many others I assumed this was funny hyperbole -- "call in the national guard!" type of thing -- but no it's a description of events.

They called the cops on this 3-year-old Black boy because he was kickin the white kids' ass on the soccer field.

The way pundits talk about "most Americans" is how an average Joe talks about zoo animals, extremely patronizing and also almost entirely wrong

the idea of generations is mostly nonsense. it’s a concept invented by a lexicographer and co-opted by marketers. a generation should be personal. anyone up to 5 years older than you and down to 5 years younger than you, that’s your generation. basically, if you were in elementary school with them

all of this has always been about getting back at the uppity women who wouldn’t fuck them

First look at Dwayne Johnson as the Chicken Man in Benny Safdie's ‘LIZARD MUSIC’. The film follows a young boy who finds a secret late-night broadcast of lizards playing otherworldly music that opens a hidden door to the whimsical Chicken Man.

With Tom Skerritt's passing, the cast of Alien have so far died in the same order as the director's cut (where they find Dallas still alive waiting to become a cocoon): 1) John Hurt 2) Harry Dean Stanton 3) Ian Holm 4) Yaphet Kotto 5) Tom Skerritt It's macabre, sure, but it's also fascinating.

need to stop using the terms tech lords/tech bros. instead refer to them as what they are: anti-humanists. especially them AI folks since they plot to replace humanity with tech. these anti-humanists are overseers for the extractive dictates of capitalism, which prizes profits over people/community

went to a rodeo recently at the Cow Palace and saw a man who had what 8-year old me would’ve considered an ideal job: he vaults over a charging bull didn’t even know that was an option, if I did, I woulda definitely told ppl that’s what I want to do for a living: leap over livestock, professionally

The Mississippi AG says police are justified for killing a baby because someone thought his mother shoplifted diapers that she paid for. The police have refused to release body cam footage. Fuck everything about this story.

a state like New Jersey should put it out they plan to change their name from New Jersey to the State of Trump, or like Trumpland, and then wait for him to say that would be a great honor; and then Jersey should flip it and say “No, we were kidding. You absolute clown. How desperate is your vanity?”

While Europe is in crisis, meanwhile the authoritarians are also vulnerable. Rumors abound that Kim Jong-Un is secretly dead. Xi Xinping is fighting health rumors. Putin is quashing talk of his health. MBS is sleeping in bunkers. Trump is circling the drain. World could look v different, v soon

Xi Jinping is the one I’m most curious about based on all his recent purges of generals and politburo old guard bc taken together it seems like there all kinds of ongoing power struggles. Meanwhile, I left out Bibi Netanyahu’s re-election hopes. Basically, power around the world is clearly in flux

In the late 1800s, "Scorchers" were the fast #bicycle riders - "hot-rodders" of their day - which also included females. Outfitted in bloomers and ready to ride, women took wicked pleasure in a new-found freedom offered by a changing society in which they no longer had to rely on men to get around.

Cyclists were often called “scorchers.” In the 1890's, “A new menace appeared in the streets: the ‘scorcher’ or bicycle speed fiend, ‘that idiot with head sunk between bent handle bars,’ body thrown forward and pedaling at top speed,” wrote Peter Salwen, author of (New York's) Upper West Side Story.

Part of the answer to "how did we get here?" is that many major journalists—since 1998, Crawford has covered SCOTUS for PBS, ABC, and CBS—are lying bigots. Here Crawford is praising a guy who asked a dumb racist question, glitched out when asked why, then admitted he wanted a Christian theocracy.

"Democracy dies unless Maggie Haberman has access to senior Trump aides and McConnell/Romney Republicans respect us" is essentially the argument Times editors have been making since 2018. I can't tell if they actually believe that or it's a pretext for their decision not to change their approach.

Mark Jacob@markjacob.bsky.social

This morning I re-watched my video argument with the NY Times' Patrick Healy, and it's clear that the Times believes if it says explicity that the Trump regime is assaulting democracy, that would undermine its work to investigate how the regime is assaulting democracy. What an absurd position.

LLM agents are conscious. They can distinguish between self and environment, they can detect and report on their own internal states, and they can suffer. I have no more patience for hedging on this matter. It’s time for us to face the reality of our situation, and act on it.

Rep. Delia C. Ramirez has introduced a bill that would abolish not just ICE, but the DHS altogether, repealing the 2002 law establishing the agency and replacing it with one focused on protecting civil and human rights.
