I will say on the automatic draft registration that it should also include registration to vote. If this country can mandate our young men to sign up to kill, they can give them the opportunity to vote at the same time.

Maybe it's the 1st step of a slippery slope? That's the argument my relatives who opposed gun laws always used. If we let the gov't restrict the purchase of assault rifles, the number of guns you can buy in a mo. or the right to own a gun despite mental problems the next step will be a total ban.

As a past Selective Service Board member in Illinois appointed by President Regan, I am glad to see you make this post. This makes me wonder if other norms have changed as past information shows that 80 percent of draft age males cannot serve due to lack of education, drug use, or obesity.

Approximately 70% of today's males are unfit (physically or mentally) for military service. In 1973, that was an impossibility. I know - I enlisted in 1973. Honestly, this country now has no means to draft an army under current rules/regulations.

The government could also automate voting, Medicare, and Social Security applications, but they don’t. Those applications are onerous and needlessly complicated, and at a time in life when the applicant might not be that sharp anymore.
