There’s a category called Microdramas on Peacock and every show just looks bizarre. Like the streaming equivalent of a B-movie or pulp fiction, except without the kitsch/camp

These are on Facebook too. They try to catch you as you scroll with something dramatic. If you pay attention for more than a second you can tell it is pure crap slop.

There's app called mydrama that has a bunch of shows all like this.

I was on Tumblr when I saw a ad for a lesbian romance show called "I'm her most dangerous obsession" and apparently its only available on a app called My Drama: Short Stories & Reel.

There is also a place called ReelShorts that I only know of because there is a Twitch Streamer I follow that regularly streams pirated versions of their offerings. A lot of them are clearly using AI in some form and also often have circular plot points.

Interesting that Americans are just now encountering microdramas, which are preposterously more popular worldwide, especially in Asia. And if you're suspecting AI might have a hand in the most recent iterations of microdramas, you are not losing your mind!

cnn.comQuiet on set. How AI transformed China’s microdrama scene | CNNThe breakneck AI transformation of the industry is the kind of technological disruption that many creatives fear could upend movie-making far beyond China.

Yeah, ripped from the current craze of vertical microdramas. Poorly written, poorly shot, poorly acted, poorly directed, and poorly edited. They captured the genre perfectly.

Wow, I was unaware that peacock was offering the equivalent to japanese light novels in movie format. I mean titles like "30 days until I marry my husband's nemesis" are VERY akin to things like "An Archdemon's Dilemma: How To Love Your Elf Bride" Just saying ^^

In case you were interested in other microdramas, there’s also Fated To My Forbidden Alpha, Do Not Disturb: Lady Boss in Disguise!, Wings of Fire: The Dragon Slayer is My Ex-Lover, Duke With Benefits, The Call Boy I Met in Paris, and Love Me, Bite Me

it might still be cheaper to actually film them if they're factory-line enough i'm reminded of a video where they interviewed someone who acted in ads for Rise of Kingdoms, can't find it anymore but a major point was how many they were pumping out per day with one cast

i love the dress on "lady boss in disguise". it's so odd-looking. very loose-fitting & utilitarian but oddly flared at the hips? it gives her the silhouette of a bowling pin

okay but we do feel the need to say that despite knowing how absolutely unhinged this sentence is: the Peacock original series based on the Twisted Metal games is genuinely very good it shouldn't be. it has no RIGHT to be. but it is. Anthony Mackie, Stephanie Beatriz, Anthony Carrigan. it rules.

I get ads for these on Instagram I think because I follow someone who acts in them and they all look extremely unhinged like someone combines basic instinct with a hallmark movie (I guess it sort of always was a hallmark movie) and then shot the whole thing overseas
