When a King and direct descendent of King George III has to remind the American government about the utmost importance of checks and balances, you know we're in deep trouble.

It's funny, a lot of British people are mad about this because Trump tried to make it into evidence that Charles agrees with him, but like... this speech was obviously for everyone BUT Trump. (lol, butt trump)

Not only are people discovering that Charles can be funny, he has a beautiful speaking voice. We heard him read Scripture at the Washington Cathedral when he and Diana visited in 1985, and it was captivating.

Lowering the tax on tea paid by the East India Company which meant the smugglers could no longer compete on price. There are several other items to do with requiring fair treatment of natives and not expanding into their territory and so on...

So he stands in front of congress to remind them of their duties, which they have failed to do, and then they stand to applaud. Did they not hear his words?

I could take this more seriously if Britain was. . . . . .literally pretty much the EXACT fucking opposite of how it is right now. For fuck’s sake people, the UK government is as addicted to burning millions shoving Palantir into all of their services as the U.S. is right now!!!

It’s hard to ignore how much the Democratic Party has shifted. Figures like Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and others pushing similar agendas are no longer outliers—they’re becoming the face of the party. Policies that were once considered far-left are now mainstream. Communism is here!

And P.S., all the GOP is clapping without realizing the REAL king threw their asses and their Pedophile In Chief’s ass under the bus with facts and truth.

That was a superb speech that has made a lot of people stop and think. Yes, Charles carried out the job he was given, build bridges without appeasing. He went above and beyond. Many in Britain, including me, wanted the visit cancelled but I see now that the visit had to go ahead.

It’s probably not good when you’re shown up by a guy whose entire claim to power rests on the fact his family has been banging their cousins for the last 1000 years and have the paper trail to prove it.

"In all ages hypocrites, called priests, have put crowns on the heads of thieves, called kings." - Robert G. Ingersoll 🤦 Brainwashed Christian liars are the stupidest sub-species of animal that ever sprouted legs on this planet. Dangerously perverse cult criminal people. bsky.app/profile/bada...

Kinda sums up where we are.

Well you know, they really should have. Despots are pretty common throughout history and the ffs certainly ensured the tools were in place to create an American one. And it was clear monarchial power was declining.

But you can bet they're all smiling from up above...today King Charles gave Americans not only a history lesson, but a wake up call and never once did he mention the name Trump. Afterall, the entire world knew whom he was referring 2...

Especially when it will have gone way over trumps head… he won’t know what the king was talking about…. If he did, he would have been bleating about it on bullshit social straight after. The king could have e schooled him on how to talk like a senior leader - Trump could never learn that.

What we have now is far worse than a monarchy with an ethical king. It pains me greatly to say that as an American, but we have a pseudo monarchy with an 🍑🤡 kneebending court where the king is like one of those corrupt unethical dark ages kings gone mad with syphilis

But if they stand and applaud, then go home and do nothing to implement the checks and balances, then it is very pointless. Lofty words aren't enough, it is action to challenge the grab of power by the executive and those in the shadows that is important.

If only you guys had defended your right to own guns precisely so you could oppose a tyrannical and corrupt regime for the last 250 years. If you had then this would never have happened. Oh. Hang on…

They clap because Trump wants them to clap. Why? Because Trump is New Money who has always wanted to be seen as Old Money (golden ballrooms, Arc de Trump etc. etc.). And the King is as Old Money as it gets. It's a club. Charles has the keys and Trump wants in.

Well, the UK is handing its NHS over to Palantir and hauling away 80-year-old pensioners for holding signs, so he probably knows a bit about democracy in peril. 🙄

1/WTF is schumer all giddy about? It's not like he's willing to do anything concerning "checks and balances!" He's nothing more than a zionist Jew lapdog of Israel! Speaking of which, fuck Jerry Seinfeld while we're at it! I was always turned off by him giving zero fucks to his fans about his...cont

2/wildly popular show "about nothing," but now he shows himself to be a rabid zionist as well! Fuck him! All while using part of his wealth to buy, and ride around in the German cars of the past that previous Jewish generations stuck in that horrible time of the Holocaust most likely built for free!

Jefferies too. As well as more than majority of GOP house & Senate congressional members. Israelis receive free healthcare. Because Congress send Israel $10-18 Billion each year. America will not free itself from Israel stronghold until 99.9% of Congress cut off Israel & Aipac.

Listening to a leader of another country who joked, used nonthreatening language or name calling, was so refreshing, and worth paying attention. I really enjoyed someone talking to the inbecile in the WH who probably did not understand he was a subject of this speech. Thank you, King Charles.

He probably thought King Charles was complementing him. This man thinks the “country” Greece is a person. He talked to the President of the US Virgin Islands. How in hell anyone can say he’s the greatest president ever. It boggles the mind.

You think? The U.S. is turned upside down (with this clown), where sensible dialogue comes from where our Founding Fathers had run. No monarch! (for a wannabe king); Religious freedom! (or choose none); No taxation without representation! (US coffers not personal piggy bank, sticky fingered Drumpf).

Interesting that the Dems, progressives and leftists organize a no kings rally and protest and yet they’re praising and giving a 3 minute standing ovation for King Charles 😂😂😂 And people are expected to take the democrat party seriously.

How is there NOT checks and balances right now when Trump can’t get a lot of what he wants? On the other hand, when the Democrats get in charge we’ll get rid of the filibuster, add 2 states, and pack the court thus tipping ALL checks and balances towards us.

Not only that. He reminded everyone about: - importance of supporting Ukraine - importance of NATO - that article 5 of NATO was applied only once to defend the IS - the importance of looking after Natural resources: that is the environment and acknowledging climate change And they all applauded

I don’t understand the hatred. Disappointment and frustration yes, but hatred? He’s a middle of the road politician who’s not very good at politics, but still miles better than any other realistic alternative and I’m relieved he was PM when this Iran fiasco started.

Charles’s speech was a rhetorical warning to a president who behaves more like a monarch than a constitutional leader—and I doubt most Republicans caught what he was really driving at.

Americans demanding the King meet Epstein survivors need to stop projecting. The monarch legally is the state — if he met victims, defence lawyers could scream bias and blow up the cases, including the one involving his brother. It’s not justice. It’s self‑sabotage.

The R’s are standing because they are delusional in thinking that there are checks and balances, only they are all pointed to the same insidious policies. They are obtuse enough to believe that while they are all working for Der Furher the country is operating democratically

Those MAGA morons look so ridiculous applauding in support of the very Constitutional principles they've been violating for years. Now the MAGA DOJ is prosecuting Comey, yet again, for posting a pic of 8647 written with seashells! IMPEACH! NOW!

Yet the right wing press continues to vilify our elderly, sick & disabled. 🤯 The Royals should fund themselves, they’re certainly wealthy enough. Stop every penny of taxpayers funding. That’ll make them think about checks & balances.

In the past the monarch used their vast estates to fund the armed forces and the judiciary. Then they turned over some of the Crown Estate to the nation and let it fund the forces and justice system, whilst retaining massive tax advantage on the Duchies of Lancaster and Cornwall.

the fact that we have to suffer until november because no one will arrest a pedo OR impeach a criminal OR use the 25 amendment to remove demented walking corpse is infuriating

We desperately need to revoke the SCOTUS rulings that say a president is above the law. Presidents need to be able to face trials and be convicted of crimes while serving. Impeachment is obviously a flawed process.

THIS Ironically, in Britain the King is technically above the law. Constitutionally, it's his law. Ridiculous I know, but how do we deal with that? By giving the King absolutely no power at all. His job is to attend functions and give speeches. He seems to be pretty good at it.

Is he there to get rid of the epstien files too late? He couldn't help his brother, but he might have gotten rid of his name on the list ...js...fake assination Saturday and poof king Charles and his horse show up a couple of days later weird no

How many Republicans have the intelligence to recognize that King Charles was directing that "checks and balances" remark directly at them? Not many.

1/Specifically why I refer to them as 'dumbpublicans'. Their lack of awareness was astounding! Or maybe I'm missing the fact that their behavior aligned with their narrative that the left are the violent, anti-democratic ones, which I find amusing in itself because outside of "the squad" and...cont

2/a few others our democratic politicians have been center right my whole life! We, out here, on "Main Street" have the real progressives but we're tripped up by the far right and even a majority in our own party! You know the ones that sit out voting if our front running candidste doesn't...cont

3/ "check all the boxes!" I'm here to state right now that that's what town halls are for! You get what you can, because it's better that the alternative, then you voice your threats of voting them out at the townhall meetings if they don't put forth legislation to address the rest! The fact...cont

Not sure why Americans think George III was an absolute monarch. He was a constitutional monarch without much actual power, so not dissimilar to Charles III. If Donald Trump wants to emulate a monarch he should go for Charles I, hopefully with the same end to his reign.

Bear in mind, after that England ended up a theocratic dictatorship so awful they put Charles II in power. Charles I was thrown out for NOT being a dictator by religious fanatics...ones who we know as "Puritans" or "Pilgrims" Trump is more like Cromwell than Charles I.

While I like that he did, its a little hypocritical coming from a man who hasn't let his brother be charged about Epstein. Checks and balances Grrrr state secrets. But pedophilia and rape is ok if you're "royalty" or any place in government or a chuch official or have enough money.

Ironically, a person named King Charles the lll, orates to US Congress, the beauty of the 3 co-equal branches idea born from our 250 years of Independence from King George the lll. Seriously, the monarchy we freed ourselves from is telling Congress to get it's head out of an autocrat's ass. TY!

Yes, IRONY. King Charles is The Head of State (and, notably, the military and police) but a Constitutional Monarchy restricts his powers significantly. He has to give 'The Royal Consent' to all Bills - but that's, usually, been a formality. Meanwhile, in the US, A DICTATORSHIP has been ALLOWED. 🤔

True, they do show due respect for the process of law-making. Also, all Judges are appointed on merit by a Commission -and, they too, hold allegiance to the monarch- not to governments. Although it's true that the monarch is 'powerless', there is a 'two-tier' element of influence in the UK. ⚖️

For all the flaws of the monarchy, it separates the elevated, ceremonial role of head of state from the powers of the executive. Any system relies on a series of voluntary agreements to uphold it, and symbolic authority is the final check on executive power when legal and democratic ones fail

A descendant of King George III defending checks and balances to a Congress that no longer uses them. Then Trump told the state dinner Charles "agrees with me even more than I do" on Iran. The guest had a better evening than the host.

The great thing here is, the Dems stood up because they appreciated the subtle attack on the President whilst, the Republicans stood up because they didn't and stood up in case they should.

That’s a strong claim, but it’s also mixing history and modern politics in a way that doesn’t really line up. The U.S. system of checks and balances was designed independently in 1787, and while the Founding Fathers were aware of monarchies like King George III’s Britain.

if he didn't, he should’ve added that in current day UK the Kings has zero power. He opens and closes Parliament, attends ceremonies and whatnot, opines on environmental issues and generally stands around. Power and governing is entirely done at Westminster, ie, Parliament, not Buckingham Palace.

Unfortunately, the King is not dealing with a reputable Politician, but a Narcissistic, uneducated, celebrity dictator who still can’t believe the American people put him back into the White House? Yep! 250 years of American evolution.

What we have going on here in the US at the Federal level is colossally-maybe hopelessly-fucked up and I can't help but wonder if we might not be better off with our own inbred jug-eared monarch with little to no power and a Prime Minister who can be ousted pretty much for just smelling funny.

I don’t suppose the wisdom expressed in the King’s beautifully crafted speech to Congress will have penetrated the brick walls built around brain cell of those in fear of Trump.
