Wilhelm screaming as I find out that actual journalists reporting on Grok quote Grok as a primary source as if it is a sentient person

Teacher: "Bueller? Bueller?" Journalist: "He's sick. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from Grok who asked Gemini who double checked with ChatGPT who said it saw him pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I think it's serious." Teacher: "Thank you, Simone."

Okay in all seriousness the way they're treating Grok is a lot like looking at one email on a server, out of millions sent by thousands of people, and attributing an apology in that e-mail to Exchange.

Everyone who has done this, along with lawyers using ChatGPT to write legal briefs, needs to get a new job producing carbon dioxide for plants

There were also people quoting Grok about a ToS change about art on Twitter as if that was a factual thing. LLMs don't provide answers to questions, they provide answer-shaped objects.

The moment everyone was watching OJ in the Bronco, fleeing the police is the moment that I realized that Journalism had, in fact, ceased. News was no longer about reporting anything of substantive value. It was now about entertainment. News organizations became the bread and circuses departments.
