He/him. Chicago native, residing in NW Indiana. I like games, especially modding games n stuff. I'm an old Gen X curmudgeon of sorts living in a spectator democracy, and I'm pretty grumpy about it. Where to learn more about me: https://safemuffins.vip

Today we lost Walter Koenig. Some thoughts about a fine actor and genuinely nice guy....

as much as I love Star Trek and always will, as much as I love the Voyage Home.. I'll remember him best for being this smug prick of a Psi Cop. Rest in peace you magnificent bastard.

You first, NYTimes. I didn't help get him elected; you did. Now that you smell blood in the water, you'll go for the throat and pretend you were always against him. We will remember.

"When it comes to fighting fascism, Democrats are showing up with a cardboard knife to a gun fight." The replies to this skeet tell a bigger story: there are still way too many people beguiled by the idea of the Democratic Party actually doing anything to help.

JFC. This isn't even medieval. They knew damn well about Arabic sciences (and translations, etc.). Fuck these people forever.

There's a reason films like Beauty and the Beast, Edward Scissorhands, The Shape of Water, Lisa Frankenstein, Your Monster, and now Wicker keep returning to the fantasy of women falling in love with creatures. I don't think the appeal is simply that women 'want monsters,' though.

Industry Executives knew cigarettes caused cancer for decades. Industry Executives knew about global warming for decades. You could probably google "Industry Executives knew about..." and come up with endless examples. Industry needs to be held by the nape of the neck with regulation at all times.

I dont think every single thing needs to go on forever and have 50 games and movies. Its ok when things are contained. Mass Effect 1-3 are great. The remaster of them is great. There doesnt need to be more, especially not at the hands of EA. kotaku.com/mass-effect-...

I'm trying to research some details about this nice robe I found at the thrift store. There's no tag other than the brand, Skin. Fortunately, I stopped myself before just searching "skin robe". I do not want to know what horrors might have awaited me.

How do I know shit is bad right now? Way fewer Spirit Halloween stores this year, even though there's certainly enough empty storefronts.

Yes well it does require things like “empathy” and possessing a basic understanding that all of our lives are interconnected

Okay, yeah. He's Star Trek staple. But you know what? Al Bester > Pavel Chekov. Bester was the role that showed the world just how awesome Walter Koenig was as an actor. The corps is mother, the corps is father. Rest in peace, and thanks for the performances.

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

Now working on our loaf of bread for the week. Doing the first proof. We made some modifications of our recipe as of late, namely adding a second proofing, and reducing some of the butter used. The results have been spectacular.

Yes, I made some jumbo muffins today. Are they chocolate, sprinkled with powdered sugar? Why yes, yes they are. Are they safe? Of course they are. Would you have expected anything less from this account?

Bread is now in the oven. Dinner has been devoured. Nursing a coke, and relaxing. Got a lot of stuff done today though!

I don't even engage with people like this anymore. It's a tell that they're one dimensional thinkers, and have no critical thinking skills whatsoever. The time in my life is too precious to waste on them. Whenever some chud comes at me with "Well I'm entitled to my opinion!"....they get Harlan.

We tried "everyone is entitled to an opinion" for three straight decades and all we have to show for it is four thousand cases of measles and a death cult running the government. It's time for people who don't know what they're talking about to shut the fuck up.

...and you know, it's sheer fucking entitlement to think your opinion is somehow worthy of being on a pedestal in the first place. It's a definite sign of a third rate mind. But the fact is, what these idiots hate the most is being reminded that being listened to is a revocable privilege.

As you watch these protests unfold across Europe, remember that mass discontent alone does not make a revolution. Without an organised working-class movement explicitly committed to overthrowing capitalism, protests may win concessions, but the system that produced those grievances remains intact.
