Journalist, "You called Margaret Thatcher a genius. Was one of her biggest mistakes the privatisation of England's water networks?" Kemi Badenoch, "Privatisation was a success" She then explains exactly how privatisation was not a success - shameless gaslighting, utterly disgusting.

Well Andy Burnham is UK resident at least and pays his taxes here. He drinks the water here and swims in the water here, so has a vested interest in quality standards. If Andy Burnham ran a water company he wouldn't have to pay share-holders dividends. Tell us the advantage of foreign owners?

An honest answer from Badenock would have been that water companies are dumping raw sewage because it is cheaper than treating it and because their treatment plants lack the capacity or maintenance to handle normal daily volumes. Shareholders win while the environment suffers.

We know exactly what's gone wrong with water and so does Burnham - private monopolies extracting as much profit as possible and investing well below what's necessary or required. It doesn't require genius to work that out. However it's clear Badenoch is clueless

Yeah quite ....... Except it's great management by the companies - for their shareholders of course. The fact they are monopolies means we as consumers have no power or influence at all. To misquote an old adage, "it's the operational model stupid!"

So, how does she propose correcting this without intervention or regulation? Wagging her finger and telling them to buck up their ideas will not be enough.

It's not worked so far has it ? Badenoch has neither the imagination nor the ideas to fix any of this. It was Thatcherite dogma that landed us here in the first place. Proclaiming yourself as the heir to Thatcher therefore won't persuade people who've lived with this rubbish for decades.

Hosepipe bans, massive lack of storage, rampant waterway pollution with sewage & agricultural run-off, whilst regular, uncontrolled flooding severely harms all other infrastructure & capital assets. Perhaps water management issues beg questions about today's tory abolition of environment agency too

Coincidentally just seen the "just save water" campaign ad where a bunch of school children chastise adults for taking long showers & using hoses not watering cans. This is the water industry response - along with hoping it rains soon for long enough (constant rain for 7 months solid is estimate)

I couldn't believe what she said yesterday, she was asked about her support of remaining in the EU 10 years ago, now she's an ardant brexiter. She said she was following the party line, doesn't really say much about her convictions.

I hope Tories keep this idiot until the end. She is so stupid. Or purposefully stupid. Either or it works for me. Currently she’s kinda keeping under the radar with her bollacks. Wait until she has to make more noise. 🤣

Surely we can just visit a water market company comparison website and select the best provider for our area based on price and service? Isn't that how markets work? 🤣

So answer this if youre bad enough. Is not tje problem that the bosses of these (privatised) water companies spent all the profits on dividends and did not invest in the infrastructure as they originally said they would? It that is NOT the problem, explain what the problem is. In simple language.

Privatisation was a roaring success for shareholders and executives. Bloody awful for customers but the Tories don’t care about them.

Tories; for the wealthy and big business first and foremost. Blah blah self made/ working class platitudes/ warm words to be repeated by torygraph/ times/ ipaper/ bbc

Bad-Enoch is simply a facade; a dim, self obsessed person, desperately trying to convince the World how clever she thinks she is!!

Ha, straight out of the RW playbook, Brexit wasn’t a failure it just wasn’t implemented correctly, same old rubbish

But the tories cut the environmental agency to shreds and allowed the water companies to self refer ... if govt implemented their own regulations then perhaps just perhaps the companies might do a better job

Privatisation was, and continues to be, an unmitigated disaster for the people of this country, and it is only pride and ego that prevents Badenoch from accepting this. If she cannot be honest about this blatant fallacy, how can we trust her with running the country? What a sausage she is.

For WHO though? if you go from the view of those that bought it, yeah, very successful as they made a fortune and walked away billions in debt that we'll end up paying for, as ALWAYS, so I guess it depends on your viewpoint, and I'm guessing she's a stake holder and made bank, so, "successful" .

If there was one or 2 which were badly run then yeah, she could have a point... But theyve all been run somewhere between badly and absolutely atrociously and they're not getting any better. That is the opposite of a success

Who was that stupid cow on Radio 5 this morning who thought the Sun shone out of Badenoch's arse? "She's literally going to save the country". What a load of unadulterated bollocks. Usual right wing rhetorical style of course - shouting, interrupting, insults. Badenoch is just a shit Thatcher.

She’s walking proof you should never allow yourself to be held back merely by not knowing anything at all about anything.

And had the Tories not instigated the Leave referendum, the EU would have continued its prosecution of the UK Government for its failures under the Water Framework Directive to stop utilities polluting for shareholder profit and the lack of investment in protecting the environment. #NeverTrustATory

What really annoys me is not that she’s stupid, but the contempt. “I know that you know I’m talking shit but the idiots that believe me will never listen to you because we’ve spent 20 years telling them we’re as stupid as they are and they don’t need clever people telling them what to do. Smug face.

If you read Laura Kuntsberg's article about Badenoch for the BBC after interviewing her you'll not believe what you're reading. She's got her head right up this stupid woman's backside. Badenoch really is as stupid as it gets.

Well it's certainly successful for the shareholders who made literally billions since Thatcher privatised everything. Not so much for us poor sods paying them their massive dividends through outrageously inflated prices, for a piss poor service. And we're supposed to be grateful for it?

Poor Kemi is stuck in an ideology trap of her own making. Brexit, Privatisation, Environment Agency… Meanwhile Burnham has moved on to real world problems, real world solutions.
