every wealthy individual on the planet is constantly ruining everything and every hobby for their own benefit

Oh thats hysterical, yugioh is basically immune to that bullshit. Its the one game I can think of where LGS's just go "fuck it" and dont bother trying to get value cards since whats valuable changes every 5 seconds

like how literally in the first episode the rich guy can't get the fancy rare card to his collection because it has emotional value to an old man so he kidnaps the old man, steal the card and rips in front of his grandson while laughs as a proud owner of the last 3 remaining cards, such a nice guy

I mean, part of Logan’s whole deal is playing the heel. i do t think he gives a shit as long as people are paying attention to him and his grifts are grinding

I got called a tankie more than a decade ago now for saying that reselling/value culture is ruining game collecting especially given the inherent preservative nature of it. I feel sadder/more vindicated with each passing year. The working class is gonna get priced out of fun.

I long since gave up. 7th and 8th gen is still cheap esp if you buy in bulk at pawn shops (Nintendo is a different bag). The adage is anything retro, you can hack a console/use a flashcart to get. If you can't , you can emulate it. Anything you can't do either is too obscure to care about.

I buy some of my favourites but I'm vastly in favour of using everdrive or equivalent. For the price of one snes Rpg you can get every game on the platform on a single cart

It can feel that way when money, influence, and ego keep invading spaces meant for joy, craft, and community; what begins as a hobby gets polished into profit, and the soul of it slips away. 😔💸🎭✨

I have a theory that part of the reason why so many remakes of video games are getting made is because resellers have utterly tanked the retro games market, and so there’s a lot of money to be made in making these $200-on-eBay games playable again

Any YGO fan would definitely tell him he’s not 100% YGO fan. I can honestly tell he’s doing it for attention without solid proof he’s a pure die hard YGO fan. Every YGO needs to know this 100%

btw there was this cartoon network show that had lessons at the end of each episode and one of them was "fuck yugioh fucking sucks" i've never played it so i can't tell if said show is teaching the kids the right lessons

I'll never get over him trying to get issues of weekly jump, famously printed on the worst paper, into gradable collectors' items

Yugioh is the funniest thing for him to scalp like the number of sets and cards that are worth doing this scalping shit for are so limited that what, is he gonna be live streaming fishing for starlight kewl tunes? Full art dominus's??

He is going to be so disappointed when he pulls mostly awful commons that you can sell three of for just a single red cent. Legit better odds of getting an Exodia piece than a 1st edition of the Blue-Eyes people skipped in favor of the Starter Deck Kaiba version

Even a 1st edition Blue-Eyes only commands really high prices if the almighty grading gods say so, all this will do is remove product that isn't being made anymore for someone who will never use it.

Also LOB blue eyes? Aka the one with the least good art. Not Exodia? Gaia the dragon champion? Tri horned dragon? Sick of this tourist dipshit who should have vanished after Japan

the one from the set he's opening is fairly rare at this point and pricey for collectors, however it is true that the majority of Yugioh players do not give a shit so even if he gets one it's gonna circulate among the 0.1% of people who do and not affect the wider market at all

Mother fucker Should be going for an Air Neos. This isn't magic- cards get reprinted all the fucking time and the only rare cards are the ones that get held up or forgotten. Poor Air Neos cant be printed anymore because of BS lawsuits.

Me, a genius: You can’t ruin a hobby if it’s already too much of a time commitment to get into. Ya ain’t gonna see Logan Paul attempting to edge highlight a 2000-point army after being a little too heavy on the paint for the 500th time.

he tried so hard with one piece but got owned instantly I hope yu-gi-oh follows but he probably saw the show when he was younger and can say a few buzzwords

Nah nah let him send people to yugioh this is good they will NOT make their money back lol. Even the full arts they're doing in the current sets don't seem to be too sought after.

I still love how this failed of Logan at least. Yugioh fans care more about meta and the reprint policy of Konami makes the value less. Also hope this push for slabbing Manga fails too since who is going to slap a manga volume it is so silly.

I did not remember that the booster pull had different art! tbh my contempt for the blue eyes is largely based on its mechanical weakness in og yugioh standard gameplay, where having to sacrifice 2 monsters for a power blob that could get removed by anything just never felt like a good move to me.

Iirc they didn’t really start to incorporate a lot of counter-type cards that could have made the “build up to a giant monster” strategy viable. Like with 500 less power the dark magician only required one sacrifice and felt like an actually better card in the environment.

There's currently a thing where people are sealing like, first edition DVDs and blu-rays and they're selling like shit because...it's always the worst quality copy of a movie and no one cares about a first edition DVD of Ghostbusters with disc rot and terrible quality because they encoded it wrong.

I’m not super knowledgeable about TCGs but I hear Yu-Gi-Oh is harder to pull this type of shit with so by all means I hope he keeps going and throwing his money away for no return…unless his grading card scam buddies FORCE it into a bubble

working in a card shop I just know I'm gonna have to listen to dudebros add YGO to their list. "Got any pokemon? One Piece? Dragonball? Yugioh? Yeah idk man I'm just trying to collect, you know."

The thing is even if does pull it it's just gonna collect dust in some drawer he isnt gonna be able tk sell it, maybe only to people who have alotnof money to burn anyway. Actual fans frame that shit

YGO guy here. What he doesn't realize is that RoI is shit outside of very rare circumstances like certain old school tournament prize cards, region specific promos, or cards that were never properly put into circulation like the mythical Mattel Figures Cyber Dragon, i.e. stuff not from packs.

He keeps trying to do the Pokemon card scam again but with other hobbies but with YuGiOh, Konami actually reprints stuff and the game is 100% more important than collecting cards. He also tried to do this with manga, which yeah buddy, trapping reprintable books in plastic shells is a great idea.

It’s so awesome that no one cares about him enough in his life to tell him that the 2002 art Blue Eyes has been reprinted (including with rarity marking foil for authenticity) approximately 15000 times because there’s always new people to sell the throwback sets to because having an 02 BEWD is Neat
