What a charmless letter. I've been brilliant; you haven't; go. A few extra lines praising some of the things Starmer has undeniably achieved would have been classier.

It's not about his ego. It's about a narrative - amidst the valid negative things she says - that Labour have undeniably been doing good things to reverse years of Tory misrule.

Doesn’t this minister understand that the first question asked of a new PM will be “This is an illegitimate PM, when will they call a General Election to legitimise themselves?” It’s all so stupid and obvious whats going on. At present were saved from sleaze. bsky.app/profile/pete...

I know there’s a lot going on with the Labour Party, but it is all in the bounds of democratic politics. This however, paid collusion between the leaders of two political parties in the run up to election, if true, is a scandal of staggering propositions

This is an honest, clear-eyed resignation letter. It's of some comfort to see Miatta Fahnbulleh openly state that Labour needs to act in the UK's best interests rather than its own.

So here we are again. Will a new PM make the UK significantly better, or even make Labour's chances of winning the next election notably greater? You'd have to argue that the odds are against both.

No. Starmer tricked people into voting for him by pretending to be a moderate, then swung to the hard right. We voted Labour because we were sick of the Tories. Starmer gave us more conservative policy, with a nasty chaser of authoritarianism.

It's only tricky if you believe there is no alternative but to shore up a system which, by all rights, should have been dead and gone by 2010. Obviously there's a limit to how long you can Weekend At Maggie's the corpse of Thatcherism before it decomposes and falls apart.

nowhere is governable by centrist absolutists because they require total power and control with zero chance of criticism and dissent it's not the people's fault that your demands are impossible

I'm reminded of the Guardian's client relationship with Keir Starmer and Morgan McSweeney both during and prior to his leadership, and of your colleague Pippa Crerar's many, many 'scoops' that are just 'a whatsapp spun on behalf of a mate'. It's you Peter, you're the problem.

I love these analyses. “We supported Labour Together in word and deed and caused this to come to pass. We support genocide, xenophobia, punching down on the marginalised,” and when there’s pushback we, the people, get, “How did this happen? Is The UK ungovernable?” Incredible lack of self-awareness

Is this really the line you hacks are going for to defend the fact that the political factions you liked were just corrupt middle managers with no interest in bettering society? It can't be that you were wrong, no, it must that the country is ungovernable lol. *Insert Skinner meme here*

The backstabbing self sabotage destroy the left faction got into power. What did you expect? That they actually govern rather than do nothing and eventually turn on each other? They are doing the only thing they know how to do!
