honestly, it's important to acknowledge that some of the lyrics in popular music are inappropriate for children. i just heard a singer say he wanted to be "shocked" like an "electric eel." thats dangerous

On this app, you either get that or a response like “kind sir, this brought a chuckle out of me! I tip my hat to you and wish you a glorious rest of your day”

Tipper Gore pointed out this way back in the 80’s. Feed Me A Fetus-Dayglow Abortions was the subject of an obscenity trial back over 30 years ago in Canada. Some of the speeches of Trump are inappropriate. Some of the Koran is outright hate of Jews.

As someone who speaks English as a second language, all this talk about “babies” in popular music has had me concerned for years.

my bad! maybe i didn't understand. can you explain how your joke is a riff on mine? to me, it felt like a stranger was just replacing it with their own separate thing they wanted to say, dismissing mine entirely.

Haha, true! Can’t have kids out here thinking electric eels are a fun time. Next thing you know, they’re at the aquarium trying to "catch a vibe." Some lyrics just hit differently when you imagine explaining them to a curious 6-year-old.

Never censored anything frommy daughter. Now as a boomer, maybe the worst thing was Robert Plant telling a woman to squeeze his lemon till the juice runs down his leg. With that said, I was more alarmed to hear a fifth grader sing he would take a bullet straight through his brain.

My son was singing the Ramones in Kindergarten. “ Hit ‘em in the back with a baseball bat.” Not appropriate! Had to have a discussion with my husband about what music he could listen to when taking son to school. 🤦‍♀️

I see it as an opportunity to talk to kids and to try to understand. Music, books, art, news, all contain issues that can be disturbing, but that kids will eventually have to face. Would you rather they face them later in life when there's no one there to guide them?

I heard a pop song that supported “lighting ‘it’ up like dynamite”. I’m not sure what it’s referring to but kids shouldn’t be playing with matches.

Or the one wondering why the dogs are outside. It’s wintertime, I’m sure they’re cold, afraid, have frozen water and no food. So instead of standing around, shirking your animal welfare duties and repeatedly asking who let the dogs out, for Christ’s sake, let them back in!
